Islam Abduganiyevich Karimov was an Uzbek politician who served as the first president of Uzbekistan, from the country's independence in 1991 until his death in 2016. He was the last First Secretary of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan from 1989 to 1991, when the party was reconstituted as the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (O‘zXDP); he led the O‘zXDP until 1996. He was the President of the Uzbek SSR from 24 March 1990 until he declared the independence of Uzbekistan on 1 September 1991.

In late 2006, authorities further tightened state control by requiring re-registration by all media outlets not passing a summary review of qualifications. In 2005 some 30 to 40 independent television stations and seven independent radio stations were in operation, but four state-owned television stations, run by the Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan, dominated the market. No live programming is allowed.
Jibek Joly is a family entertainment TV channel that is part of the RSE on the REM “TV and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, broadcasting round-the-clock in two versions: domestic - in Kazakh and Russian languages, and international - in Kazakh, Russian, English, Kyrgyz, and Uzbek languages. The director of the network is Raushan Zhanabergenovna Kazhibayeva.
The Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan Foundation, also known as The Fund Forum, established in February 2004, was an NGO in Uzbekistan, pursuing the goal of supporting domestic science, culture, education and sports. Among the founders and trustees of the Fund were famous figures of culture and arts from Uzbekistan and foreign countries. Chairperson of Board of Trustees was Gulnara Karimova. The Fund Forum was the biggest public organisation in Uzbekistan, and it expanded its international activities, currently it has representative offices in Moscow, Beijing, Tokyo, Paris, Vienna, Geneva, Madrid, New York City, Berlin and London. The NGO was closed in November 2013.
Miss Uzbekistan or O‘zbekiston go‘zali is a national beauty pageant in Uzbekistan whose winner would participate in the Miss Universe pageant.
"Asrlar Sadosi" is a festival of traditional Uzbek culture which attracts tens of thousands of local and overseas tourists every year and presents all the diversity of the national traditions and customs, handicrafts and cuisine, unique oral and non-material heritage. Asrlar Sadosi has been annually organised by The Fund Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan since 2008, in association with UNESCO since 2009.
The National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan is the national broadcaster of Uzbekistan, operating four television networks.
Daler Xonzoda at times Daler Khonzoda is a Tajik pop singer who sings in the Uzbek, English, Russian, Tajik and Karakalpak languages.
Uzreport TV is a private non-governmental news channel in Uzbekistan. The channel began broadcasting April 28, 2014 on the territory of Uzbekistan. The channel belongs to the News Agency «UzReport», which to date is shown in the information space created in 1999, the Internet portal uzreport.uz. Before creating its own channel, it produced Business Report for the commercial network NTT.
Luiza Rasulova is an Uzbek actress and presenter. Rasulova received widespread recognition and acclaim in Uzbekistan after starring in the 2012 Uzbek drama O Maryam, Maryam. Since then she has starred in many Uzbek comedy films Rasulova has also recorded a few songs.
Abdukarim Mirzayev — Uzbek journalist, film director and blogger. He is best known for his 2010 film, "Claim for pain", which chronicles the events in Kyrgyzstan. The film discusses ways for the intellectuals of both nations to find a way out of the current situation, to restore the good traditions of good neighborliness that have been lost as a result of the bloody events.
Mendirman Jaloliddin is an Uzbek-Turkish television series produced by Mehmet Bozdağ in collaboration with the Uzbek Ministry of Culture and Sports. The series is based on the life of Jalal ad-Din Mingburnu, the last ruler of the Khwarazmian Empire, and features Turkish actor Emre Kıvılcım portraying the titular character.

Ilhaq is a 2020 Uzbek military drama directed and written by Jahongir Akhmedov. The Film Agency of Uzbekistan acted as the general producer of the film. The film is the first joint project with the "Belarusfilm" studio. According to the creators of the film, the script is based on the work of Zulfiya Zokirova "Life". The picture tells about the resilience of a mother who lost five children during the Great Patriotic War. Starring Dilorom Karimova, Tahir Saidov, Dilrabo Mirzayeva Fotik Nasimov and Husan Rashidov. The tape was released on May 9, 2020.

Nodavlat Telekompaniyalar Teletarmog‘i was an Uzbek private television channel that existed from 2004 to 2013. Launched on September 7, 2004 by initiative of the National Association of Electronic Mass Media of Uzbekistan, created the previous year, with assistance from 22 independent local television stations in Uzbekistan, the network broadcast in two formats, a daily block of programming that was shared between independent local television stations and a standalone full-time television channel available both by satellite, cable television and over-the-air in Tashkent from 2005. It shut down due to connections to the family of the president. The channel was led by Gulnora Karimova's Terra Group and was one of the most popular private television networks in Uzbekistan until its closure.
TV Markaz was an Uzbek private television channel, owned by Gulnara Karimova's Terra Group. The channel emphasized its offerings on music programming and shut down due to scandals involving her assets in 2013.
The STV TV and Radio Broadcasting Company was the first independent television and radio company in Uzbekistan, in the city of Samarkand. Formally founded in 1987, it was officially registered in August 1991. It became the first independent television station and overall media outlet in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
SofTS was an Uzbek private television channel owned by Gulnara Karimova's Terra Media. The channel was an international affiliate of the Russian network STS who supplied it with programming and broadcast primarily in the Russian language in the Tashkent area. In addition to STS's programs, it also aired content from sister channel Domashny.
