The Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, or Church of Malabar Syrian Catholics, is an Eastern Catholic Major Archiepiscopal Church based in Kerala, India. It is an autonomous particular church in full communion with the Pope and the worldwide Catholic Church, with self-governance under the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches (CCEO). The Church is headed by the Metropolitan and Gate of all India Major Archbishop George Cardinal Alencherry. Officially known as the Syro-Malabar Church, Syro-Malabar is a prefix coined from the words Syriac as the church employs the East Syriac Rite liturgy, and Malabar which is the historical name for modern Kerala. The name has been in usage in official Vatican documents since the nineteenth century.

Kothamangalam and Idukki are the two suffragan eparchies of the archeparchy.

He is the editor of the St. Thomas Christian Encyclopedia of India and the Indian Church History Classics. Menachery is also the recipient of the 'Order of Saint Gregory the Great', known as the title of "Chevalier".
Mar Joseph Parecattil was an Indian prelate of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Ernakulam from 1956 to 1984, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1969.

Previously, he had served as apostolic nuncio to Ghana, Benin, and Togo. He was a Vatican diplomat and served at the Nunciatures in Indonesia, Uruguay, Iraq, New Zealand and Great Britain.
Maran Mar George Cardinal Alencherry is an Indian prelate of the Catholic Church. He is the current Major Archbishop (Head) of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church and is also Cardinal and member of the College of Cardinals. As Major Archbishop, he holds the title of "Metropolitan and Gate of all India and Head of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church". With this position, he also holds the position of Major Metropolitan Archbishop of the Church as well. The title is essentially equivalent to that of Patriarch. He was elected by the Holy Synod of the Syro-Malabar Church in 2011 to succeed Varkey Vithayathil. He was created a cardinal of the Catholic Church on 18 February 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI. He was the first bishop of Thuckalay from 1997 to 2011.
Malekudy Joseph Antony, better known as Antony Perumbavoor is an Indian film producer, distributor, cinema exhibitor and actor, who works in Malayalam film industry. He began his career as a chauffeur to Mohanlal in 1987 and started appearing in brief roles in Malayalam films in 1990s. In 2000, he established the production house Aashirvad Cinemas, which exclusively produces Mohanlal films. Antony owns the multiplex theatre chain Aashirvad Cineplexx and co-owns the film distribution company Maxlab Cinemas and Entertainments. It features Saniya Iyappan as Chinnu, the sole female entry in a Mechanical Engineering batch in a college. The film was released in India on 12 January 2018.The idea for creating such a movie was inspired from the 2015 Onam Celebration that took place in College of Engineering Adoor, Pathanamthitta, which was a massive controversy, and Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor, Alappuzha an institution in Kerala where a mass gang of boys and their only female classmate of the Mechanical Engineering Department made a dramatic entry making it a unique event becoming viral on internet too. Saniya Iyappan won Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South for her performance in the film.
Hail the Holy Priests of Ernakulam - Angamaly refers to a series of defending activities by the priests of the Major Archeparchy of Ernakulam-Angamaly, starting roughly from December 2017 and ending in September 2019. The issue first came out as a land scam in December 2017 through social media. Priests from the Major Archdiocese gathered together in the Archbishops house and asked for the details of the land deals of the Major Archeparchy. The Synod of bishops of the Syro-Malabar Church assembled in January 2018 could not effectively deal with the situation. The priests of the diocese were very strong about the deposition of Mar Alencherry from the office of the Major Archbishop. On 22 June 2018, Roman Curia intervened and appointed Bishop Mar Jacob Manathodath as Apostolic Administrator sede plena of the Major Archeparchy of Ernakulam-Angamaly to study the case with an independent agency and submit the report.
