Sardinia is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, after Sicily, and one of the twenty regions of Italy. It is located west of the Italian Peninsula, north of Tunisia and immediately south of the French island of Corsica.

Sassarese is an Italo-Dalmatian language and transitional variety between Sardinian and Corsican. It is regarded as a Corso–Sardinian language because of Sassari's historic ties with Tuscany and geographical proximity to Corsica. Despite the robust Sardinian influences, it still keeps its Corsican roots, which closely relate it to Gallurese; the latter is linguistically considered a Corsican dialect despite its geographical location, although this claim is a matter of controversy. It has several similarities to the Italian language, and in particular to the old Italian dialects from Tuscany.

Alghero - Riviera del Corallo Airport is an international airport situated 4.3 NM north-northwest of the city of Alghero, in northern Sardinia, Italy. It is also known as Alghero–Fertilia Airport, named for the nearby village of Fertilia or Alghero Airport. It is one of the three main airports serving Sardinia, the other ones being Olbia in the northeast, and near Cagliari in the south. The airport is operated by SO.GE.A.AL.
Olmedo is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Sassari in the Italian region of Sardinia, located about 170 kilometres (110 mi) northwest of Cagliari and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Sassari. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,041 and an area of 33.7 square kilometres (13.0 sq mi).

Nereo Cave is a huge underwater sea-cave situated on the north-west of Sardinia in the Coral riviera of Alghero, Italy. The name was given by the discoverers in honour of the mythological figure Nereus, who is often billed as the Old Man of the Sea, father of the Nereids. The site is under the high limestone cliffs of Capo Caccia, 100 metres north of the famous Neptune's Grotto.
The Giara horse is a horse breed native to the island of Sardinia. It is one of the fifteen indigenous horse "breeds of limited distribution" recognised by the AIA, the Italian breeders' association. While of small size due to the hostile environment in which it lives, and sometimes called a "pony," it is considered a true horse.
Antoni Ballero de Càndia was an Italian poet and lawyer, member of La Palmavera society. Almost all of his works are in Algherese dialect, a variety of the Catalan language spoken in Sardinia.
Maria Chessa Lai was an Italian poet writing in the Catalan Algherese dialect. She was three times winner of the Premio Ozieri awarded annually for the best new poetry written in a Sardinian minority language. As a bilingual poet she published her poems simultaneously in Algherese and Italian. The majority of her work was collected together and published in the volume La Mia Mar in 2005. Sixty nine of her poems translated into english were published in 2021, in a bilingual Catalan/English edition, under the title: Collected Poems/ Recull de poesies de l'Alguer—including this extract from the poem called Marçanella Helichrysum Golden Sun
Capo Caccia Lighthouse is an active 19th century lighthouse situated at the extremity of Capo Caccia, 3.7 kilometres (2.3 mi) from Tramariglio a frazione of Alghero on the western coast of Sardinia.
The 2016 Rally di Sardegna was the sixth round of the 2016 World Rally Championship. The race was held over four days between 9 June and 12 June 2016, and was based in Alghero, Sardinia, Italy. Hyundai's Thierry Neuville won the race, his 2nd win in the World Rally Championship.
Filomena Campus is a jazz singer, composer, lyricist, academic and theatre director, who was born in Sardinia and since 2001 has been based in London, England. Her performance style characteristically fuses jazz, theatre and literature, and she is the founder of the company Theatralia, curating the annual Theatralia Jazz Festival in collaboration with the PizzaExpress Jazz Club in Soho, with the aim of uniting British and Italian styles. On December 14th, 2023, Campus was awarded the honour of “Cavaliera” (Dame) of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
The Deus ti salvet Maria is a devotional song belonging to the Sardinian tradition of the Gosos, written in Sardinian language in the 18th century by the poet Bonaventura Licheri . The lyrics were translated around 1725; the oldest transcription is the one of Maurizio Carrus, who had inserted it as an appendix in the Rosary of San Vero Milis in 1731. The Laude is sung in the form of the gosos, a typical devotional song widespread in Sardinia.
Cala Burantino or Burantì in Algherese dialect, is a cove on the northwest coast of Sardinia. It is located 3.8 nautical miles, or about 8 km overland, south of the historic town of Alghero. The surrounding hinterland is almost entirely uninhabited and boasts Mediterranean flora, which is home to various species of wild plants and animals.
