Francky-Edgard Mbotto (born 2 September 1997 in Bangui) is a Central African middle-distance runner. He competed in the men's 800 metres at the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2020 Summer Olympics. [1] [2]
In 2015, Mbotto left football to start athletics thanks to his sport teacher. He met Vincent Ledauphin, his current coach. This meeting had a huge impact on his life. Thanks to his coach, Francky started to train seriously. He ran 400m and quickly became successful at the regional level. In 2016, one year after its athletics debut — the Rio Olympic year - he switched to the 800m then ran 1.50 seconds while he was a junior. This time enabled him to be contacted by the Central African Republic athletics federation, to be a part of the delegation of its native country. He made its first national selection during the Olympic games of Rio at the age of 18 years old. Heat 7, lane 4, he finished last in 1.52.89.
In 2017, He competed in the IAAF world championship in London. He came sixth in heat-5, against huge performers like Pierre Ambroise Bosse (world champion this year - 2017), Nijel Amos (second fastest 800m runner ever) and Adam Kzcot (Vice world champion this year - 2017)
In 2018, he won the U23 French national outdoor title but he finished second in the indoor U23 national championship.
In 2019, he was selected as part of the national delegation to run 800m during the 2019 African Games. Unfortunately, he was injured after 400m and was unable to finish the race. This injury caused him to miss the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar.

David Lekuta Rudisha, MBS is a Kenyan middle-distance runner who specialized in the 800 metres. He is a two-time back-to-back Olympic champion from the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics, a two-time World champion from the 2011 and 2015 World Championships in Athletics, and world record holder at the event with a time of 1:40.91 set at the 2012 London Games on 9 August 2012. Rudisha is the first and only person to ever run 800 metres under 1:41, and he holds the three fastest, six of the eight fastest, and half of the twenty fastest times ever run in this event.
Mokgadi Caster Semenya OIB is a South African middle-distance runner and winner of two Olympic gold medals and three World Championships in the women's 800 metres. She first won gold at the World Championships in 2009 and went on to win at the 2016 Olympics and the 2017 World Championships, where she also won a bronze medal in the 1500 metres. After the doping disqualification of Mariya Savinova, she was also awarded gold medals for the 2011 World Championships and the 2012 Olympics.

Boris Berian is an American middle distance runner. He was the 2016 National Champion and represented the United States at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships in the 800 meters where he won the gold medal. He set his indoor best winning the world championships at 1:45.87, boldly front running a sub-50 first 400. Outdoors he set his personal best 1:43.34 at the 2015 Herculis meet. In his collegiate career, Berian ran for Adams State University, where he was coached by Damon Martin. Barely a year before the Herculis meet, Berian was working in a Colorado Springs McDonald's as a college dropout, still trying to train after working the morning shift.
Chad competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. The country's participation in Rio de Janeiro marked its twelfth appearance at the Summer Olympics since its debut in 1964. The delegation included two track and field athletes: Bachir Mahamat in the men's 400 metres and Bibiro Ali Taher in the women's 5000 metres. Both athletes participated at the Games through wild card places since they did not meet the required standards to qualify. Neither athletes progressed past their heats.
South Sudan competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. South Sudan had been an independent nation since 2011, but its civil war had delayed its membership with the International Olympic Committee until 2015, making 2016 its first official appearance at the Olympic Games. The country was offered three universality placements in athletics, as no South Sudanese athletes met the Olympic qualifying standards prior to the Games. Three athletes, two men and one woman, competed in three track and field events, but did not win any medals. The sole woman, Margret Rumat Hassan, was given a spot eight days prior to the start of the Games that had been allotted previously to Mangar Makur Chuot. This change was against the advice of the South Sudan Athletics Federation and was due allegedly to pressure from Samsung, for whom Hassan had appeared in an advertisement. The flagbearer for both the opening and closing ceremony was Guor Marial, a marathon runner who, then unable to represent South Sudan, had competed as an Independent Olympic Athlete in 2012. Five South Sudanese nationals also competed as members of the Refugee Olympic Team.

He has also competed in two World Junior Championships, an African athletics championships and an African Youth Games. Azemia has also raced over the flat 400 metres distance.
Emmanuel Kipkurui Korir is a Kenyan middle-distance runner. He is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and 2022 World champion in the 800 metres. Korir won the silver medal in the event at the 2018 African Championships in Athletics.
Central African Republic competed at the 2019 African Games held from 19 to 31 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco. In total, athletes representing the country won one medal: Gildas Bangana won the bronze medal in the men's super lightweight boxing event. The country finished last in the medal table, in 41st place, shared with Cape Verde.
