Daniel Francois Haasbroek (born 26 August 1987) is a former South African professional cricketer who has represented the Free State and North West provincial teams in first-class and List A cricket. [1]
Haasbroek has also played club cricket in England;he assisted Northern in the Liverpool Premier League in 2006 and 2007,and joined Lancashire League team Lowerhouse as the club professional in 2011 until 2013. During these 3 seasons,Lowerhouse won 2 Lancashire League titles,and were runners-up in 2013. The Club also won the Worsley Cup in 2012. In the 2014 season,he played for Finchley in the Middlesex Premier League,followed by a two year spell as Professional for Euxton,in the Ribblesdale League. He settled permanently in Lancashire,marrying a Burnley girl in 2017. He is currently Director of Cricket at Stonyhurst College. Under Lancashire League rules,he was able to regain his " amateur " status in 2018,and has represented Lowerhouse since then,helping them to three more Worsley Cups in 2018,2021 &2024. [2]

Its real importance is probably due to its history of employing professional players of international standing to play in the League. East Lancashire Cricket Club is a cricket club in the Lancashire League,which plays its home games at Alexandra Meadows in Blackburn. For the 2024 season its captain is James Westhead and its professional is Adithya Siriwardhana. The club has been very successful,winning the League on 14 occasions,the Worsley Cup on 18,the Inter League Club Challenge Trophy twice in its ten-year history,and has won a greater percentage of its games than any other club. It has employed professionals including Fazal Mahmood,Allan Border and Paul Reiffel.
Haslingden Cricket Club is a cricket club in the Lancashire League,which plays its home games at Bentgate in Haslingden. For the 2020 and 2021 seasons its captain is Jordan Shannon. For the first time post war,the club did not employ a professional for the shortened 2020 season owing to the Coronavirus pandemic. The club has won the league on 12 occasions and the cup on 5. It has employed professionals including George Headley,Clive Lloyd and Dennis Lillee. Another notable professional was West Indian opening batsman Phil Simmons. Ian Austin went on to have a successful career with Lancashire and England. Played for Haslingden as both an amateur and professional having started his career at Haslingden as a junior.

Ramsbottom Cricket Club is a cricket club in the Lancashire League,which plays its home games at Acre Bottom in Ramsbottom. The club has won the league on four occasions and won the cup 6 times,including two victories in consecutive years in 2001 and 2002. Raymond Bernard Strauss was an Australian sportsman who played both cricket and field hockey at high levels. From Perth,Western Australia,Strauss attended Perth Modern School and later the University of Western Australia,playing for the university's hockey club. Twice named captain of the all-Australian universities side,he was captain of the side on several occasions,including when the team shared the 1952 Syme Cup with the University of Adelaide. Strauss represented Western Australia on various occasions from 1949 to 1955,and made his Test debut for the Australian national team in August 1954,against New Zealand,though it is unclear if he played further matches for the national side. At both club and state levels,he had largely played as a defender,usually as a fullback,and was known for his "interceptions and long clearances".
