An economist is a professional and practitioner in the social science discipline of economics.
The Chicago school of economics is a neoclassical school of economic thought associated with the work of the faculty at the University of Chicago, some of whom have constructed and popularized its principles. Milton Friedman and George Stigler are considered the leading scholars of the Chicago school.
Jacob Viner was a Canadian economist and is considered with Frank Knight and Henry Simons to be one of the "inspiring" mentors of the early Chicago school of economics in the 1930s: he was one of the leading figures of the Chicago faculty. Paul Samuelson named Viner as one of the several "American saints in economics" born after 1860. He was an important figure in the field of political economy.
Ronald MacDonald OBE is a Scottish economist with interests in a wide range of topics in International Finance and Macroeconomics and a considerable amount of his research focuses on the economics of exchange rates and currency regime choice. He is currently Research Professor of Macroeconomics and International Finance in the at the Adam Smith Business School in the University of Glasgow.
The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks that, along with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., make up the United States' central bank. Missouri is the only state to have two main Federal Reserve Banks. Located in downtown St. Louis, the St. Louis Fed is the headquarters of the Eighth Federal Reserve District, which includes the state of Arkansas and portions of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, the eastern half of Missouri and West Tennessee. It has branches in Little Rock, Louisville and Memphis. Its building, at 411 Locust Street, was designed by St. Louis firm Mauran, Russell & Crowell in 1924. The Eighth District serves as a center for local, national and global economic research, and provides the following services: supervisory and regulatory services to state-member banks and bank holding companies; cash and coin-handling for the District and beyond; economic education; and community development resources.
Kenneth Jan Singleton is an American economist. He is a leading figure in empirical financial economics, and a faculty member at Stanford University. As the Adams Distinguished Professor of Management, Emeritus at Stanford Graduate School of Business, Singleton teaches a variety of degree courses in finance.
The Bachelor of Economics is a four-year undergraduate degree in economic theory, econometrics and applied economics; other titles are Bachelor in Economic Sciences (B.Econ.Sc.) and Bachelor of Applied Economics. Specialized economics degrees are also offered as a BA (Econ), BSc (Econ), BCom (Econ), BSocSc (Econ); these degrees may span three years. He is also the Faculty Research Director of the Rethinc.Labs at the Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise.
Robin William Boadway, is a Canadian economist. He held the David Smith Chair at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Earlier he was Sir Edward Peacock Professor of Economic Theory at Queen's University. He has taught at Queen's University since 1973. He was Head of the Department of Economics at Queen's from 1981–86, and was previously Associate Director of the John Deutsch Institute for the Study of Economic Policy.
Francis Hopkirk Ackerman was an American economist known for his work in environmental economics, particularly in the areas of climate change and development. He is also known as a founder of the magazine Dollars & Sense.
Panicos Onisiphorou Demetriades in Limassol, Cyprus, is a Cypriot economist, currently Professor of Financial Economics at the University of Leicester. During 3 May 2012 - 10 April 2014, Demetriades was a European Central Bank Governing Council member and the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus. According to RePEC he is in the top 2% of economic authors in Europe. He is the author of "A Diary of the Euro Crisis in Cyprus: Lessons for Bank Recovery and Resolution", published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2017.
Emmanuel Farhi was a French economist and professor of economics at Harvard University. His research focused on macroeconomics, taxation and finance. He was a member of the French Economic Analysis Council to the French Prime Minister from 2010 to 2012.
George Stanford Tolley was an agricultural economist at the University of Chicago. Along with the faculty at the University of Chicago, he has worked on the faculty of North Carolina State University. In 1965–1966, he was Director of the Economic Development Division of the Economic Research Service at the US Department of Agriculture, and in 1974–1975 he was Deputy Assistant Secretary and Director of the Office of Tax Analysis at the US Department of Treasury.

From 2001 to 2006, Redish served as the Head of Department of Economics at the University of British Columbia and was awarded The President's Medal of Excellence by the University of British Columbia in 2018 for her contributions towards establishing the Vancouver School of Economics.
