Frankfurter Handball Club is a German women's handball from Frankfurt (Oder).
During the communist era Frankfurter HC was the handball section of military sports club ASK Vorwärts, installed in Frankfurt since 1971. Vorwärts was one of the most successful East German team in the 1980s, winning six national championships between 1982 and 1990. [1] It was also successful in international competitions, winning two EHF Cups in 1985 and 1990. [2]
Following the reunification of Germany the ASK Vorwärts society was disbanded in 1991, and Frankfurt became an independent club and joined the Handball-Bundesliga as BFV Frankfurt. In 1994 the club merged with local team and took its current name.
While the club's status has decreased following the reunification Frankfurter has still been fairly successful since, winning the 1997 EHF City Cup, [3] the 2003 national cup and the 2004 championship. Most recently it was sixth in 2011, qualifying for the EHF Cup. [4]
FC Energie Cottbus is a German football club based in Cottbus, Brandenburg. It was founded in 1963 as SC Cottbus in what was East Germany. After the reunification of Germany, Energie played six seasons in the third tier of the German football league system before floating between the 2. Bundesliga and Bundesliga for 17 years between 1997 and 2014. From 2014 to 2016, the club played in the third tier, 3. Liga, and were then relegated to the Regionalliga Nordost. In 2018, they were promoted back into the 3. Liga, only to be relegated again the next season.

Jürgen Nöldner was a German footballer who was active in East Germany. He was the son of Erwin Nöldner, a resistance fighter killed by the Nazis in 1944.
László Marosi is a Hungarian former handball player, currently the president of the Tatabánya KC club. He participated at the 1988 Summer Olympics, where the Hungarian national team placed fourth, and at the 1992 Summer Olympics, where the team placed seventh. He also represented Hungary on two World Championships in 1986 and 1990 and won a silver medal on the first one.
