Club Balonmano Cantabria was a team of handball based in Santander, Cantabria. CB Cantabria was not registered in any handball league after 2008. [1]

History

Balonmano Cantabria was founded in 1975 when bought the seat of CB La Salle Authi from Los Corrales de Buelna. La Salle Authi was for a long time sponsored by Authi. From 1972–73 season to 1974–75 season, La Salle Authi played in Primera División (2nd tier). In 1975, the industrial company based in Santander, Teka, bought the team's seat and relocated it to Santander from Los Corrales de Buelna. The team was renamed more later as G.D. Teka.

Liga Asobal is the premier professional handball league in Spain. It was founded in 1958 with the name of División de Honor, changing its name to the current name in 1990. The Liga ASOBAL, which is played under EHF rules, currently consists of 16 teams, including famous ones like FC Barcelona, Ademar León, Bidasoa and Granollers.

The Copa del Rey de Balonmano is an annual cup competition for Spanish handball teams. Organized by the Liga ASOBAL. It was originally known as the Copa del Generalísimo and was renamed Copa de SM El Rey in 1975. It was the first nationwide handball competition played in Spain, and was first played for in 1957.

Talant Mushanbetovich Dujshebaev is a former handball player, and current coach, who serves as the head coach for Vive Kielce. Dujshebaev is considered by many to be one of the greatest handball coaches of his generation. He successively played for 4 national teams in his playing career: First for the Soviet Union, then the Unified Team, then Russia and finally Spain. His most usual demarcation as a player was centre backcourt. After initially having success with BM Ciudad Real as a coach, he has been coaching Kielce for nearly a decade now.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Marian Dumitru</span> Romanian handball player

Marian Dumitru is a retired Romanian handball player. Between 1980 and 1996 he played 231 matches for the national team and scored 754 goals. He competed at the 1980, 1984 and 1992 Olympics and 1982, 1986 and 1990 world championships and won bronze medals in 1980, 1984 and 1990. At the club level he played for Steaua Bucharest, winning 11 national championships and reaching the EHF Champions League final in 1989. The same year, he signed for TEKA Santander in Spain, where he won the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in 1990. He then went to play in the Bundesliga for TSV Bayer Dormagen. In the 1993–94 season, he won the EHF Cup with Alzira Avidesa.

The Supercopa ASOBAL or the Supercopa de España de Balonmano was an annual cup competition for Spanish handball teams. It was organised by the Liga ASOBAL. It was first played for in 1985 and was disputed between the Liga ASOBAL champions and the winners of the Copa del Rey de Balonmano. It was played as a single match, at a neutral venue and in different cities every year. In 2022 it was replaced by Supercopa Ibérica.

Liga ASOBAL 2007–08 season was the 18th since its establishment. A total of 16 teams competed this season for the championship.

Patrik Ćavar is a retired Croatian handball player. The legendary left wing played in Croatia for Mehanika Metković, Badel 1862 Zagreb and Agram Medveščak, in Bosnia and Herzegovina for Borac Banja Luka, in Spain for FC Barcelona, BM Granollers, and in France for Saint-Marcel Vernon.
