Granitas Kaunas is a professional team handball club from Kaunas, Lithuania. The men`s team won 17 league titles after Lithuania independence between 1990 and 2009. Granitas is the only men handball team to win European Cup with a win in EHF Cup 1987. Currently, Granitas Kaunas competes in the Lithuanian First League of Handball, also in Baltic Handball League. Kaunas Granitas is the most successful team in Lithuania Handball history.
The 1987 IHF Cup was won by the two coaches Antanas Skarbalius and Modestas Prakapas and the players Valdemaras Novickis, Raimondas Valuckas, Gediminas Mikulėnas, Stasys Vasiliauskas, Romas Dumbliauskas, Algis Mockeliūnas, Eugeninus Miknius, Valius Babarskas, Vytautas Milašiūnas, Jonas Kaučikas, Remigijus Cikanauskas, Pranas Vaitonis, Tautrimas Tautkevičius, Laisvydas Jankevičius, Arnoldas Čepulis, Michailas Juska, Algis Mikučionis, Kastytis Čebatorius and Robertas Narkus.
The best-known former Granitas player is 1982 World Champion and 1988 Olympic Champion Valdemaras Novickis, who was also the team's coach from 1993 to 2019. Other former players include Aidenas Malašinskas, Vytautas Žiūra, Gintaras Savukynas, Gerdas Babarskas, Povilas Babarskas, Almantas Savonis, Robertas Paužuolis, Gintautas Vilaniškis, Andrius Račkauskas, Arūnas Vaškevičius, Vigindas Petkevičius, Romas Magelinskas and Andrius Stelmokas.
