Frauke Sonderegger is a Swiss orienteering competitor at international level. At the World Orienteering Championships in Zalaegerszeg in 1983 she placed 12th in the individual contest and fifth with the Swiss relay team. [1] She won a bronze medal in the relay at the World Orienteering Championships in Bendigo in 1985. [2]

Annichen Kringstad is a Swedish orienteer. Kringstad was the first household name orienteer in Sweden, and she was a major reason for the popularisation of the sport. Kringstad won the world championships individually as well as in the relay format in 1981, 1983 and 1985, before retiring at the age of 25. World Orienteering Championships

The World Orienteering Championships is an annual orienteering event organized by the International Orienteering Federation. The first World Championships was held in Fiskars, Finland in 1966. They were held biennially up to 2003. Since 2003, competitions have been held annually. Participating nations have to be members of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF).

Kari Sallinen is a Finnish orienteering competitor. He was the first Finn who won the Individual World Orienteering Championships. The competition was held in the year 1985 in Bendigo, Australia. He was also part of the Finnish team that obtained bronze in the 1981 Relay World Championship in Thun, Switzerland.

Morten Berglia is a Norwegian orienteering competitor.

Øyvin Thon is a Norwegian orienteering competitor, and has seven gold medals at the World Orienteering Championships.

Tore Sagvolden is a Norwegian orienteering competitor. He is four times Relay World Champion, in 1981, 1983, 1985 and 1987. He obtained silver in the Individual World Orienteering Championships 1981, 1985 and 1987, and bronze in 1979.

Urs Flühmann is a Swiss orienteering competitor. He is two times Relay World Champion, as a member of the Swiss winning teams in 1991 and 1993, as well as having a silver medal from 1987 and a bronze medal from 1985. He also obtained bronze in the Individual World Championship in 1987.

Ragnhild Bratberg is a Norwegian orienteering competitor and a cross country skier.

Kerstin Månsson is a Swedish orienteering competitor. She is two times Relay World Champion as a member of the Swedish winning team in 1983 and 1985.

Brit Volden is a Norwegian orienteering competitor. She won the 1987 Relay World Championship, as well as a silver medal in 1979. She also obtained silver medals in the Individual World Championships in 1981 and 1985. She won the overall World Cup in 1983, and finished second in 1984 and 1988.

Kjell Lauri is a Swedish orienteering competitor. He was a Relay World Champion in 1979, as a member of the Swedish winning team. He also obtained silver medals in 1978 and 1985, and a bronze medal in 1983.

Ellen Sofie Olsvik is a Norwegian orienteering competitor, world champion in the relay event, and winner of the first overall Orienteering World Cup. She is also world champion in ski-orienteering.

Marja Liisa Autti is a Finnish orienteering competitor. She received a bronze medal in the relay event at the 1989 World Orienteering Championships in Skövde, together with Ulla Mänttäri, Annika Viilo and Eija Koskivaara.

Ruth Humbel Swiss politician

Ruth Humbel is a Swiss politician (CVP) and a member of the Federal Assembly. She is also an orienteering competitor at international level. She won bronze medals in the relay at the World Orienteering Championships in 1978, 1981 and 1985. She placed fourth in the individual event at the 1981 World Championships, and fifth in the relay in 1979.

Susanne Lüscher is a Swiss orienteering competitor. She won a bronze medal in the relay at the 1985 World Orienteering Championships in Bendigo, Victoria.

Christine Schaffner Swiss mountain bike orienteer

Christine Schaffner is a Swiss mountain bike orienteer and world champion. She has participated in all seven World MTB Orienteering Championships from 2004 to 2010, and won gold medals in the long distance four times, in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Willi Müller is a Swiss orienteering competitor who participated in five World Orienteering Championships in the 1970s and 1980s. He competed at the 1978 World Championships in Kongsberg, where he placed 16th in the individual course and fourth in the relay with the Swiss team. At the 1979 World Championships in Tampere he placed 18th individually and again fourth in the relay. He competed on the Swiss relay team at the World Championships in Thun in 1981, where the team placed fifth. At the 1983 World Championships in Zalaegerszeg he placed tenth in the individual contest, and fourth in the relay. At the 1985 World Championships in Bendigo he participated on the Swiss team which won the bronze medal.

Martin Howald is a Swiss orienteering competitor. He participated at the 1985 World Orienteering Championships in Bendigo, where he won a bronze medal in the relay, together with Willi Müller, Urs Flühmann and Alain Gafner. At the 1981 World Orienteering Championships he placed 9th in the individual contest, and fifth with the Swiss relay team.

Iva Knapová-Kalibánová-Kusynová is an orienteering competitor who competed for Czechoslovakia. She won a silver medal in the relay at the 1983 World Orienteering Championships in Zalaegerszeg, together with Eva Bártová, Jana Hlaváčová and Ada Kuchařová. At the 1987 World Orienteering Championships in Gérardmer she won a bronze medal in the relay with the Czechoslovak team, which in addition to Kalibanová consisted of Iva Slaninová, Ada Kuchařová and Jana Galíková.

Brigitte Zürcher is a Swiss orienteering competitor at international level. At the World Orienteering Championships in Zalaegerszeg in 1983 she placed fifth with the Swiss relay team. She won a bronze medal in the relay at the World Orienteering Championships in Bendigo in 1985.
