The politics of the Western Cape differs from that of most other provinces in South Africa,because,unlike the other provinces,the African National Congress (ANC) does not dominate the political landscape. The Western Cape's political landscape is also notable for the presence of a relatively strong local devolution and independence movement.

He had previously served as the Executive Mayor of the West Rand District Municipality from 2016 to 2019 and as the Regional Chairperson of the ANC's West Rand Region from 2014 to 2018.
Dikeledi Phillistus Magadzi is a South African African National Congress politician who served as a Member of the National Assembly from 2014 until 2023. She served as Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Transport from 2014 to 2019,as Deputy Minister of Transport from 2019 to 2021 and as Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation from 2021 until 2023. Johan Pieter Gelderblom is a South African retired politician. A former member of the New National Party,he served as a party representative in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. From 2001 to 2004,he served as the Western Cape Minister of Agriculture and Tourism,and Environmental Affairs. After the 2004 election,he became the chairperson of the provincial parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA). He joined the African National Congress in 2005. Gelderblom served as an ANC MP from 2009 to 2014.

Shahidabibi Shaikh is a South African politician who has been the Chairperson of the Select Committee on Security and Justice in the National Council of Provinces since 2019. A member of the African National Congress,she has been a permanent delegate to the NCOP from Limpopo since 2019. Shaikh had previously served in the Limpopo Provincial Legislature from 2014 to 2019.
Grant Trevor Snell is a South African politician who served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa between 2009 and 2014,representing the African National Congress. Prior to serving in parliament,Snell served in the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature.
Daphne Zukiswa Rantho is a South African politician and educator who served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the African National Congress from 2014 to 2019.
