Freddy Jan Robert Borg (born 27 November 1983) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a forward.

Career

Sweden

Borg started his career with Trelleborgs FF as a youth player, before moving to Malmö FF, Höllvikens GIF and then Östers IF, where he spent seven years.

Germany

On 22 January 2012, Borg signed a six-month contract with Hansa Rostock of the German 2. Bundesliga. [1] Borg scored five times in 14 appearances for the club during his stay. June 2012 saw Borg sign for Alemannia Aachen in the 3. Liga. [2] After six months with Alemannia Aachen, Borg signed a six-month contract with SV Darmstadt 98, also of the 3. Liga, in January 2013. [3]

Azerbaijan

In July 2013, Borg signed for Azerbaijan Premier League side AZAL. [4] Borg made his debut on 10 August 2013, coming on as a 65th-minute substitute for Garib Ibrahimov, in their 1–0 victory over Baku. [5] In December 2013, the start of the winter break in the Azerbaijan season, Borg was released from his contract with AZAL having made just six substitute appearances whilst failing to score. Return to Sweden

Following his short stint in Azerbaijan, Borg signed for his hometown team Trelleborgs FF on a short-term contract till the summer of 2014, with an option of extending till the end of the season, in March 2014. [8]

The Ravan Baku 2013-14 season was Ravan Baku's third, and final, season in the Azerbaijan Premier League, after finishing 10th and being relegated. They also reached the Semifinals of the Azerbaijan Cup where they were defeated by Neftchi Baku. It was to be Ramil Aliyev's first full season as manager, however he resigned on 12 August 2013 following 2 successive defeats and Ravan bottom of the table, Vladislav Kadyrov took over as manager. Kadyrov was himself was replaced on 7 October by Shahin Diniyev, who resigned on 3 January 2014 with Güvenç Kurtar being appointed in his place.

The AZAL 2013–14 season was AZAL's ninth Azerbaijan Premier League season, in which they finished 8th in the League. They also participated in the Azerbaijan Cup, where they were defeated in the Second Round by Qarabağ. AZAL started the season under the management of Vagif Sadygov, but he was sacked on 16 March 2014 following their defeat to Neftchi Baku, and replaced the following day by former Neftchi Assistant Tarlan Ahmadov.

The AZAL 2014–15 season is AZAL's tenth Azerbaijan Premier League season. They will participate in the League and the Azerbaijan Cup. It will be their first full season with Tarlan Ahmadov as their manager.

The 2016–17 Azerbaijan Premier League was the 25th season of the Azerbaijan Premier League, the Azerbaijani professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. Qarabağ were the defending champions, having won the previous season. The season began on 6 August 2016 and concluded on 29 April 2017.
