Freelance League

The Freelance League is a name for a loosely defined high school athletic league that is part of the CIF Southern Section. Member schools are small schools. The word "Freelance" describes that they find competitive situations where available without a formal league structure. Schools are spread across the entire section from San Luis Obispo County to San Bernardino County and Riverside County. In certain sports some of these teams are part of other leagues.

The 1993 film Gridiron Gang was inspired by the Kilpatrick Mustangs. [1] Jordan Hasay was a hero at the 2008 Olympic Trials while still a junior at Mission Prep. [2] Verbum Dei has a lengthy championship history. [3] Bellarmine-Jefferson High School has hosted the Bell-Jeff Invitational, a large cross country meet, since 1974 that has become a Southern California institution. [4]

Adolfo Camarillo High School (ACHS) is a public high school in Camarillo, California. The school is part of the Oxnard Union High School District and serves students in grades 9–12 in east Camarillo, Somis, and the Santa Rosa Valley. ACHS is named for Adolfo Camarillo, a prominent Californio ranchero and founder of the city which bears his name; he donated part of Rancho Calleguas for the high school. The Arcadia Invitational is a high school track and field meet in the United States. It is considered the most competitive meet in the country and has been billed as the "Home of National Records". The meet is held at Arcadia High School in Arcadia, California, on either the first or second weekend in April each year. The Arcadia Invitational attracts the top prep athletes in the United States and internationally. The Arcadia Invitational has played host to 32 national high school records and has helped to produce 179 U.S. Olympians.

Frank Forrest Latta (1892–1983), was a California historian and ethnographer of the Yokuts people. He also wrote histories of the early European-American settlement of the San Joaquin Valley.

The Camino Del Rey Association is a high school athletic league that is part of the CIF Southern Section. It is an amalgamation of the Camino Real League, the Del Rey League and the Santa Fe League. Members are generally the Catholic schools located in Los Angeles County.

The Bell-Jeff Invitational is an eponymous, annual cross country event hosted by Bellarmine-Jefferson High School in Griffith Park. Since 1973 this event has become a Southern California institution. Starting early in the morning on the last Saturday in September, the series of races over the course of the day play host to over a hundred different high school cross country teams from across the CIF Southern Section and other sections of the state.

St. John Paul II STEM Academy at Bellarmine-Jefferson was a private, Roman Catholic STEM high school in Burbank, California, launched in August, 2019. It was located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles at the former site of Bellarmine-Jefferson High School, which closed in 2018. St. John Paul II STEM Academy closed in 2020 after one year of operation.
