Frequency is the tenth studio album by the British neo-progressive rock band IQ, released in May 2009 by Inside Out Music. Recorded at Aubitt Studios in Southampton and Redbridge Studios in Bolton from June 2007 to February 2009, it was produced by guitarist Michael Holmes. It was the first and only album recorded with new group members, keyboardist Mark Westworth and drummer Andy Edwards, as well as the last with bass guitarist John Jowitt.

Neo-progressive rock is a subgenre of progressive rock, which developed in the UK and achieved popularity in the 1980s. Several bands from the genre have continued to record and tour.

IQ (band) British neo-progressive rock band

IQ are a British neo-progressive rock band founded by Mike Holmes and Martin Orford in 1981 following the dissolution of their original band The Lens. Although the band have never enjoyed major commercial success and had several line up changes, IQ have built up a loyal following over the years and are still active as of 2018. In 2011, IQ performed a series of concerts in the UK and Europe celebrating their 30th anniversary.

Inside Out Music is a German independent record label originally based in Kleve, North Rhine-Westphalia, and dedicated to the publication of progressive rock, progressive metal and related styles. In 2009, it formed a partnership with Century Media Records and moved its base of operations to Dortmund, also in North Rhine-Westphalia. In August 2015, Century Media was acquired by Sony Music and became its premier label for progressive music.

In a three-and-a-half-star review, Alex Henderson of AllMusic has referred to Frequency as "a very moody" but at the same time "also very accessible" album, concluding that despite substantial line-up changes, "it illustrates IQ's ability to continue providing memorable and very digestible progressive rock 28 years after the band's formation". [1]

Peter Nicholls is the lead singer of the progressive rock band IQ. Nicholls left the band briefly in the late 1980s to form the alternative rock band Niadem's Ghost but returned in 1991. He is known for his entertaining if somewhat reticent and eccentric stage presence.

IQ

John Jowitt is a bass guitarist known for his work with several UK progressive bands, such us Ark, IQ, Arena, Jadis and Frost*. He has been awarded the British Classic Rock Society's award for best bass player seventeen times, each year between 1993 and 1998 and again between 2002 and 2011, but has now specifically asked to sponsor the award in 2013 and not be considered.

Kyros (band)

Kyros is a London-based progressive and alternative rock band formed in 2012 with roots dating back to 2009. Originally a solo project of multi-instrumentalist and singer Adam Warne in collaboration with guitarist Nikolas Jon Aarland, evolved into a band setting in 2013 after the debut self-titled album was recorded and released in January 2014.

Adam Tanagan Warne is a British music producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, visual artist, video producer and frontman of the alternative and progressive rock group, KYROS.
