Brussels, officially the Brussels-Capital Region, is a region of Belgium comprising 19 municipalities, including the City of Brussels, which is the capital of Belgium. The Brussels-Capital Region is located in the central portion of the country and is a part of both the French Community of Belgium and the Flemish Community, but is separate from the Flemish Region and the Walloon Region. History

Fresh Air is the basketball section of the Fresh Air Tennis Club. [2] The club became a considerable force in the post-war Belgian basketball at the late '70s winning the Belgian league two consecutive times in a row (1978, 1979). [3] In the 1978–79 season Fresh Air begun to play also in the Belgian Cup final but it lost the game to Sunair Oostende (66–77).

Belgian Basketball Cup

The Belgian Basketball Cup, for sponsorship reasons the bpost cup, is the top tier national basketball cup competition in Belgium. The tournament is played in a knock-out format, in which teams are drawn against each other. Oostende is the most successful club in the competition's history, as it won 19 titles.

Seasons run from late July to early May, with teams playing 30 matches each in the regular season, and then entering play-offs 1 or play-offs 2 according to their position in the regular season. Play-offs 1 are contested by the top 6 clubs in the regular season, with each club playing each other twice. Play-offs 2 are contested by teams ranked 7 to 15 in the regular season, divided in two groups of 6 teams playing each other twice. The team finishing in 16th place is relegated. As of 2014 the league was sponsored by AB InBev, brewers of Jupiler beer, and officially known as Jupiler Pro League.

The club competes in the top Pro Basketball League (PBL). Oostende is the most successful basketball club in Belgian history, as the club's honour list includes a record nineteen Belgian League championships, a record nineteen Belgian Cups and eleven Belgian Supercups.

Mechelen transit camp

The Mechelen transit camp, officially SS-Sammellager Mecheln in German, was a detention and deportation camp established in a former army barracks at Mechelen in German-occupied Belgium. It was managed by the Sicherheitspolizei (SiPo-SD), a branch of the SS-Reichssicherheitshauptamt, in order to collect and deport Jews and Romani mainly out of Belgium towards the labor camp of Heydebreck-Cosel and the concentration camps of Auschwitz-Birkenau in German occupied Poland.
