Frieha Altaf is a Pakistani actress, former model, host, film director, producer and human rights activist. [1] She is the CEO of her own Catwalk Event Management and Sahil which she founded in 1989. [2] She also worked in classic dramas Rozi and Kohar . [3] Altaf also had guest appearances in films Lahore Se Aagey , Wajood , Baaji and Parey Hut Love . [4]

Early life

She completed her education in US and returned to Pakistan in 1986. In Karachi, she worked as a painter and sculptor. During an exhibition, she was asked by a modeling agent to model for advertising and she agreed. [5] Frieha's mother Yasmeen was a model in the 1960s. [5]

Frieha also went to Canada where she studied fashion design while also teaching there at Barbizon Institute and got a diploma in fashion design. [1]

Career

Frieha started modeling at age 18 before going to the USA and she also did theater and stage plays. [5] Frieha was paired with supermodel Atiya Khan for a jewellery shoot. [5] In 1986, during the match between Pakistan versus India cricket cup in Sharjah, Frieha was sent abroad for a modelling show for Maheen Khan which was a success for Frieha. [5] She also hosted Lux Style Ki Duniya on PTV in 1989. [1] In 1990 she made her debut as an actress in Sahira Kazmi's directed long play Rozi as Shahana. [5]

In 1991 she worked in Haseena Moin's drama Kohar as Neelam with Shakeel, Marina Khan and Fauzia Wahab. [3]

In 2014 she introduced actress and model Areeba Habib to Pakistani fashion industry. [6]

In 2022 Frieha launched her own podcast called FWhy Podcast in which she interviewed many actors and actresses such as Humayun Saeed, Imran Ashraf and Zara Noor Abbas. [7]

Personal life

She married thrice but her three marriages ended in divorce. [5] She has two children from her third marriage and took custody of her children. [8] [9] Frieha's sister Neshmia Ahmed is a former model and the CEO of Grandeur Art Gallery. [10]

In 2018 Frieha revealed in an interview with Nida Yasir and Farah that she was abused by her cook at the age of six when her parents were on vacation in Japan. She told about it to her mother when she came back from Japan later they got the cook arrested. She said that it was traumatizing for her and it affected her and her mother but later she recovered. [11]

Parey Hut Love is a 2019 Pakistani romantic comedy film, directed by Asim Raza. Written by Imran Aslam, the story revolves around a young free-willed, commitment-phobic, aspiring actor Sheheryar and a strong-willed girl, Saniya and their romance as they meet and fall in love over a series of unplanned encounters at the weddings of their friends and family. Parey Hut Love also stars Nadeem Baig, Ahmed Ali Butt and Zara Noor Abbas and Shahbaz Shigri in prominent roles. The film also features a cameo by Mahira Khan and a special appearance by Fawad Khan. There are also cameos from Meera, Sonya Jehan and Ahmed Ali Akbar.

<i>Baaji</i> 2019 Pakistani film

Baaji is a 2019 Pakistani romantic drama film, directed by Saqib Malik and produced by his Production company Page 33 Films. The film features Meera as Shameera Osman Khalid Butt as Rohail Khan/ Khalid Osman, Amna Ilyas as Neha, Mohsin Abbas Haider as Ajji, Ali Kazmi as Rammy, Nayyar Ejaz, and Nisho in pivotal roles. It is a dramatic tale of a fading Lollywood actress Shameera (Meera), who is not accepting that now her position in the industry is not much valuable. The story revolves around the relationship of Shameera with a Salon girl Neha who later becomes an assistant of Shameera and make this opportunity happens of working with an American Based Pakistani Director Rohail Khan. Neha who belongs to a conservative lower middle class family then also make herself involved in Shameera's comeback movie titled Waapsi by helping them in rehearsals and script making so far she get a chance to take a supporting role in the movie. The film includes Ali Kazmi as Raamy who is highly aggressive about Shameera. Mohsin Abbas Haider plays the love interest of neha's character, while the Legendary actor Nayyer Ejaz supports the film by his great comics and unforgettable role as Chand Kamal, film also includes numerous well-known faces from the industry as in cameo appearances.

The 17th Lux Style Awards ceremony was held in Expo Center in Lahore, Pakistan. The award show not only recognized and acknowledged excellence in Fashion, Film, Music and TV but also created consciousness about various social causes, such as sexual abuse, child abuse and human rights. Unilever Pakistan Marketing Director Raheel Pasha also issued a statement earlier saying that 17th Lux Style Awards show was going to bring focus on ‘social awakening’ and ‘stand in solidarity with the nation’ at this ‘critical time’. The event started off with celebrities and prominent personalities walking down the red carpet. Ali Kazmi, the official Red Carpet host engaged the stars in quick and light hearted conversations after visiting the Social Corner, which was hosted by Ayesha Omer. Punjab Nahi Jaungi remained most awards winning film with four awards while Baaghi remained most awards winning TV series by winning three awards.
