Full Contact Championship (FCC) is India's longest [1] running professional mixed martial arts fight network. Founded in 2009, under the banner of Full Contact Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, FCC is India's first pro MMA organization. [2] FCC has been sanctioned by Mixed Martial Arts Association of India and has followed the usual "Fight Night" format. It is one of the MMA organisations, formed to promote the sport of MMA in India and globally. Till date, FCC has had 13 fight nights; the most recent one being held at Indore on 9 July 2016 by the name of FCC-13. [3]

  1. Prashant Kumar [4] - Founder & Director - Prashant is a Mixed Martial Arts expert who participated in Free Style Fighting in Mumbai in the early 1990s. Prashant has a Black Belt in Taekwondo, has trained in Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and has also cross trained in Grappling and Judo.

Rules

FCC's current rules are based upon the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts that were originally established by the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board and modified by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Cage

FCC uses a 6 sided Hexagon cage for its fights. This cage was introduced in FCC-12. Prior to FCC-12, the fights took place in a square ring.

FCC-12

FCC-12 took place at Famous Studios, Mumbai on 29 January 2016. This was by far the biggest of FCC fight nights. This event marked the introduction of a hexagon fight cage into FCC. The fight night saw a total of 9 bouts, including a wild card entry bout as well. Wali "The Warrior", [6] an Afghani mixed martial artist was the winner of the Main Event Bout, beating Mumbai's "Furious" Farhan. FCC-12 had a telecast on DD Sports and was widely covered by a lot of print, online and television media. It had online ticket sales on Bookmyshow and had partnered with Fever 104 FM for Radio Promotions. During the FCC-12 Fight Night, the founder Prashant Kumar [7] announced FCC League [8] - World's First ever MMA League. FCC league will be a 7 city team based league and will consist of 7 fighters in each team, one being an international fighter.

FCC-13

The team of FCC announced their 13th fight night in Indore and organized the same on 9 July 2016. A total of 12 bouts took place in this fight night. The media announcement was made on SR Media, a local TV channel and the venue for the same was Basketball Complex, Indore. The event saw a crowd of more than 2000 people flocking the stadium to witness FCC-13. Elli Avram was the guest of honor and Deep Money performed live at the fight night. FCC-13 featured 3 India v Afghanistan bouts.

Julie Kedzie is a retired American mixed martial artist. She is a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and specializes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Kedzie was Greg Jackson's personal assistant at Jackson's Mixed Martial Arts. Kedzie has been working for Invicta Fighting Championships as a fight commentator and interviewer. In December 2013, Kedzie became the new matchmaker for Invicta FC.

Ed West is a Filipino-born American mixed martial artist. He competed in the Bantamweight division of Bellator MMA, and the World Series of Fighting (WSOF).

The year 2012 was the inaugural year for Super Fight League, an Indian-based mixed martial arts (MMA) league. Its first event was held in March and featured a bout between the two MMA veterans Bob Sapp and James Thompson. The league has scheduled several events to occur throughout India in 2012. On 5 August 2012, the Super Fight League aired their reality show SFL Challengers. Similar to the Ultimate Fighter, the show took young up-and-coming Indian mixed martial artists, placing them in the same house. On October 12, the Super Fight League changed their organisational structure from one event a month in arenas to one event every Friday in a specially designed mini-arena in Mumbai in front of an exclusive invitation only audience. With programming lasting for three hours each week with weigh-ins, live fights, and interviews from Bollywood cage side guests. There was seven fights in total each event, with one of them being a female bout. It aired live on Neo Prime in India and on their YouTube page for the rest of the world.

While mixed martial arts is primarily a male dominated sport, it does have female athletes. For instance, Female competition in Japan includes promotions such as DEEP Jewels. Now defunct promotions that featured female fighters were Valkyrie, and Smackgirl. Professional mixed martial arts organizations in the United States that invite women to compete are industry leader Ultimate Fighting Championship, the all female Invicta Fighting Championships, Resurrection Fighting Alliance, Bellator Fighting Championships, and Legacy Fighting Championship. Now defunct promotions that featured female fighters were Strikeforce and EliteXC. There has been a growing awareness of women in mixed martial arts due to popular female fighters and personalities such as Amanda Nunes, Megumi Fujii, Gina Carano, Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos, Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, Holly Holm and Joanna Jędrzejczyk and among others. Carano became known as "the face of women's MMA" after appearing in a number of EliteXC events. This was furthered by her appearances on MGM Television's 2008 revival of their game show American Gladiators.

Zubaira Alikhanovich Tukhugov is a Russian mixed martial artist who fights in the Lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). A professional MMA competitor since 2010, Tukhugov made a name for himself, fighting in promotions like Cage Warriors, ProFC, Fight Nights (EFN) and others, before joining the UFC in 2014.

Danielle Nicole Taylor is an American mixed martial artist. She was the Strawweight King of the Cage (KOTC) champion, competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's strawweight division and is currently competing for Invicta FC.

Zachary Ottow is an American mixed martial artist who formerly competed in the welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). A professional competitor since 2011, he has also competed for King of the Cage.

PFL Challenger Series is an American mixed martial arts promotion. Young and up-and-coming male and female MMA prospects will compete for a slot in the PFL tournament season and a chance at $1 million. Each week, the PFL Challenger Series will consist of a celebrity guest panel featuring personalities in film, athletics, and music. Mike Tyson, along with NFL stars Ray Lewis and Todd Gurley, are just a few of the names who will decide who gets a shot in the league.

Omar "Umar" Nurmagomedov, is a Russian mixed martial artist currently competing in the Bantamweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He has previously competed in the Eagle Fighting Championship (EFC) and Professional Fighters League (PFL). He is the older brother of Bellator champion Usman Nurmagomedov and a cousin of former UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. As of December 6, 2022, he is #11 in the UFC bantamweight rankings.

Peter Queally is an Irish mixed martial artist currently competing in Bellator's Lightweight division. A professional competitor since 2012, he has also competed for Extreme Fighting Championship, BAMMA, Cage Warriors and Fight Nights Global. As of October 4, 2022, he is #9 in the Bellator Lightweight Rankings.

Patrick Mark Pimblett is an English professional mixed martial artist. He currently competes in the Lightweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). A professional since 2012, Pimblett is a former Cage Warriors Featherweight Champion.

Murad Ramazanov is a Russian mixed martial artist, currently competes in the Welterweight division for ONE Championship. He has previously fought in Fight Nights Global and Gorilla Fighting Championship.
