Futebol Clube Praia Branca, also as FC Praia Branca and Praia Branca is a football (soccer) club based in the village of Praia Branca in the northwest of the island and plays in the São Nicolau Island League. Along with Académica da Preguiça and Caleijão, a club once existed, it never won any titles. It also has a basketball and a track and field club. Its chairwoman is Leonilda Fernandes.

Praia Branca is a town in the northwestern part of the island of São Nicolau, Cape Verde. It is part of the municipality of Tarrafal de São Nicolau. Its population at the 2010 census was 521. It is situated 2 km from the coast, 10 km northwest of Ribeira Brava.

About the club

The club was founded on July 19, 1998. It is the only club on the island to have its own website.

Its logo colors has a white shield crest with thick blue stripes, the club name is on top and the island name is on a bottom white tag, its traditional drums with a friendship handshake are inside the shield.

The club first appeared in the early 2000s. In the club's recent years, they finished fourth with 24 points with 7 wins, 3 draws and 23 goals scored. Praia Branca finished 7th for the next two seasons and had only 13 matches played as the final round's match with AJAT'SN which was to be held on April 29 was cancelled due to financial reasons, that season, the club had 8 points and had only a won, 5 draws and scored 8 goals. In the 2015-16 season, they were a little better with 13 points and had 3 wins, four draws and scored 17 goals. In 2017, they picked up a position finishing 6th and had 3 wins and draws, not in points which was 12 and goal scoring where they scored only 12 and conceded 22 goals again.

Praia Branca started the 2017-18 regional season with a loss to Académica then a scoreless draw with AJAT'SN. A miracle came as Praia Branca defeated the island's top two club Atlético on January 27. Praia defeated the island's top three Ribeira Brava and is the club's recent win. Praia recently had a goal draw with AJAT'SN, then recently lost to Belo Horizonte at the 10th round and was sixth, equal points with Talho and also shared 2 draws., Praia Branca scored 6 and conceded 15. Their wins were shared by two other clubs who has a position each above Praia Branca's. Praia Braia made a win over Atlético on March 17, once very rare to do. Praia Branca recently suffered a loss to Ultramarina on March 21, they have 11 points and is fifth place

Clube Desportivo Ribeira Brava is a football club that currently plays in the São Nicolau Island League in Cape Verde and is the island's third most popular club. It is based in the Ribeira Brava, the island's largest and the capital on the island of São Nicolau. The team won island titles, first in 1990 and another in 2010. The club currently has four championship titles and a cup title for the island.

Stadium

The club plays at Estádio Orlando Rodrigues with a capacity of once served up to 1,000. The club also trains at the stadium. Other clubs playing at the stadium are AJAT'SN and Ultramarina.

Until the winter of 2010, before its own stadium was constructed, the club played at Estádio João de Deus Lopes da Silva which was located 56 km on road (about 15 km direct and 30 km via the port of Preguiça). [1]
