GS Iraklis Women's Basketball is the women's basketball department of G.S. Iraklis, the Greek multi-sports club based in Thessaloniki. The club plays in A2 Ethniki (2nd tier). They have won three Greek Championships, in 1968, 1970 and 1971. [1]

History

Iraklis Women's Basketball was the first champion of the Greek Women's Basketball League, in 1968. Iraklis won even two championships, in 1971 and 1972. Nevertheless, the next years the club was weakened. The last presence in A1 Ethniki was the season 2007-08, when it finished one place above the last place and was relegated. [2] In current season Iraklis plays in A2 Ethniki.

Ethnikos Piraeus 1923 Football Club is a Greek football club based in Piraeus and its parent sports club is Ethnikos OFPF. The club was officially formed in 1923 as Keravnos, but existed since 1922. One year later the club was renamed to Young Boys Titan, after some players' secession that formed Peiraikos Podosfairikos Omilos. The club was renamed to Ethnikos on 23 December 1924, after it merged with Peiraikos Podosfairikos Omilos.

Panetolikos was founded in 1926 and is considered one of the historical clubs in Greece, currently participating in the Greek First Division. Aris Thessaloniki F.C. Football club

Aris FC, commonly known as Aris Thessaloniki FC, AFC or simply Aris, is a Greek professional football club based in the city of Thessaloniki, Macedonia, Greece. Created in 1914 as Aris Thessaloniki Football Club, the club was a founding member of the Macedonian Football Clubs Association, as well as the Hellenic Football Federation. The colours of the club are golden/yellow, a dominant colour in the culture of Macedonia and reminiscent of the Byzantine heritage of Thessaloniki, and black. It is named after Ares, the ancient Olympian "God of War," associated also with courage and masculinity, whose image is portrayed on the club's logo as depicted in the Ludovisi Ares sculpture.

Greek Womens Basketball League

The Greek women's Basketball League, also known as A1 Ethniki Women's Basketball is the most important competition of Greek women's professional basketball. It is organised by the EOK. It began with the 1967–68 season. The first championship of the league, which was held in the 1967–68 season, was organised by ΕΟΑΠ. Two years later, the EOK assumed control of the competition.

Iraklis Water Polo Club is the water polo department of G.S. Iraklis multi sport club. It has got teams both men and women. The most successful is the women's team that plays in A1 Ethniki, while the men's team plays in A2 Ethniki.

VAO (sports club)

Vizantinos Athlitikos Omilos or VAO is a multi-sport club in the city of Thessaloniki. It was founded in 1926. The current seat of the club is the suburb of Thessaloniki Sykies.

At the beginning of 2014–15 season, Aris Thessaloniki was going to play in Football League Greece as a result of the finish into the last season in the bottom of league table and the relegation. Although the team chose to play in Gamma Ethniki relieving from the huge debts it had accumulated in recent years.

X.A.N. Thessaloniki

X.A.N. Thessaloniki is a Christian youth development organisation that is based in Thessaloniki, Greece, and which comprises the homonymous Greek multi-sport club. The club was founded in 1921, and has teams in basketball, volleyball, handball, water polo, and others sports. X.A.N. Thessaloniki is part of YMCA in Thessaloniki, which is a Christian universal welfare movement. The full name is Christianiki Adelfotita Neon Thessalonikis (CHANTH).

Aris Thessaloniki Womens Basketball

Aris Thessaloniki Women's Basketball is the women's basketball department of Aris Thessaloniki, the Greek multi-sport club based in Thessaloniki. The club plays in A2 Ethniki but recently it has played in A1 Ethniki. In 2015-2016 season is on the first place of the second category.

Panionios Womens Basketball Greek basketball team

Panionios Women's Basketball is the women's basketball department of Panionios GSS, the Greek multi-sport club based in Nea Smyrni. The first basketball department of the club was founded in 1919 and was one of the first in Greece. The women's department in turn was established in the post-war period. Its last reconstitution took place in the late 1990s. The club plays in A2 Ethniki but recently it has played in A1 Ethniki. They have won one Greek Championship, in 2007.

Gymnastics Club Ergotelis

The Gymnastics Club «Ergotelis» Heraklion Crete, also known simply as Ergotelis, is a Greek multi sport club based in Heraklion, Crete. The name of the club was inspired by that of the famous ancient Cretan expatriate Olympic runner Ergoteles of Himera. Officially founded in 1929, Ergotelis' colours are yellow and black. The club runs multiple football and basketball departments for both men and women playing in both regional and domestic competitions.
