Iraklis Volleyball Club, or Iraklis Volley, is a volleyball team based in Thessaloniki, Macedonia, Greece. It plays in A1 Greek Volleyball League. Founded in the 1920s, they evolved in one of the most successful departments of G.S. Iraklis multi-sports club and one of the best teams in Greece and Europe, as they have won 5 times the Greek league and reached 3 times the final of the CEV Champions League.

Aris FC, commonly known as Aris Thessaloniki FC, AFC or simply Aris, is a Greek professional football club based in the city of Thessaloniki, Macedonia, Greece. Created in 1914 as Aris Thessaloniki Football Club, the club was a founding member of the Macedonian Football Clubs Association, as well as the Hellenic Football Federation. The colours of the club are golden/yellow, a dominant colour in the culture of Macedonia and reminiscent of the Byzantine heritage of Thessaloniki, and black. It is named after Ares, the ancient Olympian "God of War," associated also with courage and masculinity, whose image is portrayed on the club's logo as depicted in the Ludovisi Ares sculpture. It is considered as one of the biggest teams in Greece.

Daniil Papadopoulos is a former Greek footballer that played in several positions throughout his career. He was born in Thessaloniki and played youth football with Olympos Dendropotamou before starting his professional career with Iraklis. Papadopoulos spent his entire professional career with Iraklis and he is the all-time leader for Iraklis with 419 appearances. Papadopoulos is also the second all-time goalscorer of Iraklis with 64 goals. He managed to gain 5 caps for Greece. Papadopoulos also had a brief career in management, as an assistant and caretaker manager of Iraklis and as a manager in second and third tier teams.

The 1938–39 Panhellenic Championship was the tenth season of the highest football league of Greece. 14 teams participated, for the first time so many and for the first time from the province. It was held in two groups, Southern Group with 8 and Northern Group with 6 teams, which qualified from the championships of the local associations.

Thessaloniki Lions RFC is a Greek rugby union club that was established in 2008 and since then participating in the Greek rugby union championship. It has more than 40 registered players. The club's best league position was second at the end of the 2012–2013 season. Since the 2013–2014 season, the club has joined the Unity Cup championship which brings together six other teams from the country. The club nowadays trains at Papafio pitch. The budget of the club is fueled solely by the contributions of the players since its creation.

Eleftherios "Lefteris" Kakiousis is a former Greek professional basketball player, as well as a coach and executive. During his playing career, he played at the point guard and shooting guard positions.

Andrej Kravárik is a Slovak-Greek former volleyball player and current coach. He spent the biggest part of his playing career at Iraklis Thessaloniki, where he enjoyed great success. He was also coach of the Slovakia men's national volleyball team.

Aristeidis Moumoglou is a retired Greek professional basketball player. Born in Veria, he played with Iraklis Thessaloniki in the Greek Basket League, and also represented the Greek national team at the senior level. He played at the shooting guard position.
