The McKinney Avenue Transit Authority (MATA), a non-profit organization, operates the M-Line Trolley in Dallas, Texas. In operation since 1989, it is an example of a heritage streetcar running historic cars. The M-Line Trolley operates 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Since 2002, the M-Line Trolley is free to the public, thanks to donations and a joint operating subsidy received from Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and the Uptown Improvement District. The main stretch of the line runs along McKinney Avenue in Uptown between West Village and Klyde Warren Park / Dallas Arts District. The M-Line Trolley connects to the DART light rail system at CityPlace/Uptown on the northern end and St. Paul on the southern end.

Ron Poe is a former American football coach. He served as head football coach and athletic director at McKinney High School in McKinney, Texas, from 1971 to 2000. Under his guidance, McKinney won a Class 3A state championship in 1979 and finished runner-up in 1986. Poe amassed a 221–106–4 in his 30-year-long coaching career and is among the winningest football coaches of all-time in the state of Texas.

The Texas A&M–Texas Tech football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Texas A&M Aggies football team of Texas A&M University and Texas Tech Red Raiders football team of Texas Tech University. The series began in 1927. The rivalry had continued uninterrupted since 1957 when the two schools became conference rivals. Texas A&M leads the series 37–32–1. Texas A&M started the series with a 12–3 advantage while the two teams played each other as non-conference opponents from 1927–1955. Texas Tech led with a 2–1 record during its probationary membership in the Southwest Conference from 1957–59. Texas A&M led the series during the Southwest Conference years (1960–95) with an 18–17–1 record. Texas Tech led the series during the Big 12 Conference years (1996–2011) with a 10–6 record. In summary, Texas A&M dominated the series during the early years (1927-1955) with a 12-3 advantage, while Texas Tech leads the series in the modern era (1957-2011) with a 29-25-1 advantage. Both teams are tied with six games each for the longest winning streak. Texas Tech holds the longest uninterrupted winning streak of the series, six games between 1968 and 1973, while Texas A&M has the longest nonconsecutive winning streak, six games in 1927, 1932 and 1942 through 1945. Texas A&M currently holds a three-game winning streak but with their departure from the Big 12 Conference in 2012, it is uncertain if the rivalry will continue in the future.
Dallas City FC (DCFC) is an American soccer club based in McKinney, Texas. DCFC competes in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) as a member of the Heartland Conference of the South Region. The club changed their name before beginning play in the NPSL. Early in 2017, it was announced that the club would no longer compete in the NPSL. However, when the 2017 season began, the NPSL listed DCFC in the standings in the place of Liverpool Warriors. The primary rival of DCFC in the NPSL is Fort Worth Vaqueros FC. The two clubs annually compete in a cup competition, the Trinity River Cup, which is a two-leg total goal series.
