Gabriel Bitan (born 23 July 1998) is a track and field athlete from Romania. He was a bronze medalist at the 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships in the long jump.
From Bucharest, [1] Bitan won has won multiple Romanian national long jump titles, indoors and outdoors, since his first wins in both in 2019. [2] He also won the 2021 and 2022 Balkan Athletics Championships. [3] [4]
Competing at the 2021 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Poland Bitan finished in eighth place in Torun. [5]
Bitan won bronze at the 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Istanbul, with a jump of eight metres. [6] After the event he implied credit to his coach Anișoara Cușmir for giving him the advice to improve his jumps and win the medal. [7]
Ivana Španović is a Serbian long jumper, the 2023 World champion, a two-time World indoor champion, a two-time European champion, a three-time European indoor champion and a five-time Diamond League Trophy Winner. Douwe Jorn Amels is a Dutch track and field athlete who specialises in the high jump. He won the gold medal at the 2023 European Indoor Championships, becoming the first Dutchman ever to win gold in the event and the first Dutch high jump medallist at these championships since 1977. Amels claimed also gold at the 2013 European Under-23 Championships.
Wilma Anna Helena Murto is a Finnish pole vaulter. She won the gold medal at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich with a jump of 4.85 m, equalling the championships record and setting a new Finnish record. Murto also claimed victory at the 2023 European Indoor Championships, making her the first Finnish woman in history to win gold at these championships.
Izmir Smajlaj is an Albanian athlete who specialises in the long jump. He won the gold medal at the 2017 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade, the first gold medal for his country at a major athletics competition, setting a new national and personal record of 8.08 metres in 2017.

Noor Vidts is a Belgian athlete competing in the combined events. She won the gold medal in the pentathlon at the 2022 and 2024 World Indoor Championships. Mahuchikh is also the 2020 Summer Olympics bronze medalist, 2019 and 2022 World Championships silver medalist and 2024 World Indoor Championships silver medalist. She is a three-times Diamond League title holder.

The 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships was held from 2 to 5 March 2023 at the Ataköy Arena in Istanbul, Turkey, the first time the event took place in this country although the venue did stage the 2012 World Indoor Championships for which this 7000-seater was specifically built. The four-day competition was held during the centenary year of the Republic of Turkey, and featured 13 men's and 13 women's athletics events over three morning and four afternoon sessions.

Furlani holds the European U20 indoor record for the long jump. In May 2023, at age 18, he leapt 8.44 m with wind assistance in the event, a mark better than the world U20 record and the longest in history by an U20 athlete in all conditions. At 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris he was bronze medalist.
