On June 16, 2025, Wood threw the third no-hitter in College World Series history, striking out 19 batters in a 3-0 win versus the Murray State Racers. [11] [12] Over ten starts for the season, Wood went 4-1 with a 3.82 ERA and 69 strikeouts over 37+23 innings. [13]

Professional career

Wood was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the first round with the 26th overall pick of the 2025 Major League Baseball draft. [1] [14] He signed with the team on July 22 for $3 million. [15] After signing, Wood made his professional debut with the Single-A Clearwater Threshers. [16]
