Galaxy Resources Limited was an Australian public mining company. It was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange until it merged with fellow lithium producer Orocobre in August 2021.

It owned and operated the Mt Cattlin spodumene-tantalite mine at Ravensthorpe, Western Australia. [3] The mine operated between 2009 and 2012 before being placed on care-and-maintenance between 2013 and 2016. Following a plant refurbishment, mining at Mt Cattlin recommenced in March 2016, with first tantalum production in May 2016. [4] [5] [6]
The Sal de Vida lithium brine project, located in Argentina's Salta and Catamarca provinces, and the James Bay Lithium Pegmatite Project in James Bay, Quebec, Canada are at a development stage. [7]
In May 2016, Galaxy announced a merger with its joint venture partner in the Mt Caitlin mine, General Mining Corporation. [8]
Galaxy sold a northern package of tenements on the Hombre Muerto salar to South Korean conglomerate POSCO for US$280 million in 2018. The sale allowed the company to maintain its original proven and probable reserves of 1.14 million tonnes LCE (Lithium Carbonate Equivalent). The measured and indicated resource as at 2016 was 5.67 million tonnes LCE. [9] [10]

It occurs as colorless to yellowish, purplish, or lilac kunzite (see below), yellowish-green or emerald-green hiddenite, prismatic crystals, often of great size. Single crystals of 14.3 m (47 ft) in size are reported from the Black Hills of South Dakota, United States.

The Mt Cattlin mine is a spodumene-tantalite mine 2.2 kilometres (1.4 mi) north of Ravensthorpe, Western Australia. In 2019 Mt Cattlin had a reserve of 8.2 million tonnes of ore grading 1.29% Li2O and 155 ppm Ta2O5.
Indiana Resources is a dual-listed iron ore mining and base and precious metals exploration company based in Perth, Western Australia. The company was first listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on 17 August 1994. It changed its name to Indiana Resources Limited in 2016. When IMX's now-closed Cairn Hill mine commenced production in 2010 it became the first new South Australian iron ore mine in over a century. IMX was also the first Australian iron ore company to operate the rotainer bulk export system, which is now in use at a number of other sites around the country.
The Bald Hill Lithium and Tantalum Mine is a lithium mine in Australia. It was closed, but is being re-opened for tantalum production. It previously was operated as a tantalum mine by Haddington International Resources. The mine comprises approximately 774 square kilometres in Western Australia's Eastern Goldfields Coolgardie Municipal area. It is located approximately 60 kilometres south east of Kambalda and around 50 kilometres east of Widgiemooltha.
