Gangster Chronicle is the debut album by UK hip hop group London Posse. Sparkii (Jus Badd Cru) produced six of the tracks (as well as remixing and re-recording "Money Mad"), Twilight Firm (DJ Devastate and Brian B) produced two tracks and the London Posse produced "Tell Me Something". It was originally released as an LP on Mango Records in 1990, but was re-released in 2001 on Wordplay, and was re-released again in 2013 by Tru Thoughts Records as a double CD set. This features previously unreleased tracks and a selection of remixes. The album is regarded as a classic UK hip hop album.

The Nextmen are a UK production/songwriting/DJ duo consisting of Dom Search and Brad Baloo. Often incorporating hip hop, Drum&Bass, dub, pop, soul, and various other eclectic electronic and indie genres into their sound, they have worked with many artists from the UK, US, Australia, Jamaica, and New Zealand. Kicks Like a Mule is a British electronic music duo consisting of Richard Russell and Nick Halkes. Their first single, "The Bouncer", peaked at #7 in the UK Singles Chart when it was released in 1992. Although both Halkes and Russell worked at the XL Recordings label at the time of the single's release, it was released on Rebel MC’s independent Tribal Bass label. It featured a repeated vocal sample of an archetypal club bouncer saying "Your name's not down, you're not coming in" and "Not tonight, your're not on the list."

UK garage, abbreviated as UKG, is a genre of electronic dance music which originated in England in the early to mid-1990s. The genre was most clearly inspired by garage house, but also incorporates elements from R&B, jungle and dance-pop.
