Chhattisgarh is a landlocked state in Central India. It is the ninth largest state by area, and with a population of roughly 30 million, the seventeenth most populous. It borders seven states – Uttar Pradesh to the north, Madhya Pradesh to the northwest, Maharashtra to the southwest, Jharkhand to the northeast, Odisha to the east, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to the south. Formerly a part of Madhya Pradesh, it was granted statehood on 1 November 2000 with Raipur as the designated state capital.

The Garhjat Hills is a mountain range formed by a series low-lying hills, plateaux, ridges and meadows that stretch into Odisha from the Utkal Plains in the Chotanagpur region of Jharkhand and the Chhattisgarh Plains. The range, also known as the Odisha Highlands, runs in a north east to south west direction for about 382 km along the Odisha coast, covering 76,800 km2 (29,700 sq mi).

Bailadila Range, is a mountain range rising in the Deccan Plateau about 200 km west of the Eastern Ghats. It has been named 'Bailadila' because it resembles the hump of an ox. It is located near Kirandul town in the Dantewada district of southern Chhattisgarh, India.

Jatmai Mata Mandir or Jatmayi Temple is a Hindu temple of Goddess Durga ji located in Gariaband district, 80 km from state capital Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India. The water streams just adjacent to the temple of Mata touch her feet and fall down from the rocks. According to local beliefs, these water streams are the servants of the mother. Every year a fair is organized in the temple of Mata in the Navratri of Chaitra and Kunwar.
