Gary N Nickels (born 1958) is a retired English boxer.

Boxing career

Nickels was the National Champion in 1978 after winning the prestigious Amateur Boxing Association British flyweight title, boxing out of Repton ABC. [1]

He represented England in the -51 kg flyweight division, at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. [2] [3]

He turned professional on 9 October 1978 [4] and fought in 32 fights.[ citation needed ]

Boxing at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games

Boxing will be competed as one of the seven sports at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games in the Isle of Man from September 8 to 12, 2011, in the Royal Hall in the Villa Marina, Douglas. The event is only open to boys. In the Games, the age limit for participating athletes has been set according to the youth category of the International Boxing Association, which is 17–18 years, means athletes born in 1993 or 1994 are only eligible to take part.
