Gary Sciacca (born March 10, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York) is an American horse trainer in the sport of Thoroughbred horse racing.
Sciacca earned his first win as a professional trainer on October 21, 1981, at New York's Aqueduct Racetrack. In 1992 he conditioned Saratoga Dew to American Champion Three-Year-Old Filly honors, the first New York-bred horse to win an Eclipse Award.
On November 18, 2008, Sciacca began serving a 120-day suspension order issued by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board. for Under the Trainers Responsibility Rule, the Board found him accountable for a milkshaking incident at his stable which occurred while he was on vacation. On August 18 ,2022 ,at Saratoga Raceway, a group of rowdy horse racing lovers from downstate NY were caught rolling the trainers favorite golf cart around the grounds. Upon discovering this , Sciacca immediately went into a curse laden rage in front of women and children. 20 minutes later that group won big off his horse, “Sell Something”.

John R. Velazquez is a Puerto Rican jockey in Thoroughbred horse racing. He began his career in Puerto Rico and moved to New York in 1990. In 2004 and 2005 he was the United States Champion Jockey by earnings and both years was given the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey. He was inducted into the Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 2012, rode his 5,000th winner in 2013, and became the leading money-earning jockey in the history of the sport in 2014.

William I. "Bill" Mott is an American horse trainer, most notable for his work with Cigar. Mott earned the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Trainer in 1995 and 1996. He was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1998 at the age of 45, becoming the youngest thoroughbred trainer ever inducted. Mott started training thoroughbreds at age 15 and won the South Dakota Futurity with Kosmic Tour before he was out of high school. He worked his way up the ranks by becoming first an exercise rider, then an assistant trainer for Hall of Fame Trainer Jack Van Berg. In 1976, Mott, trainer Frank Brothers, and a stable crew guided Van Berg's horses through the wins at Sportsman's, Hawthorne and Arlington Park race tracks in Chicago. They were so successful that Van Berg was named leading trainer at Arlington Park and leading trainer in the Nation with 496 wins in 1976, a record that stood until Steve Asmussen broke it in 2003 with 555 wins. Asmussen broke his own record in 2008 and 2009. Mott worked as an assistant trainer for Van Berg for three years before striking out on his own in 1978.

The Saratoga Cup was an American Thoroughbred horse race open to horses of either sex age three and older although geldings were not eligible from 1865 through 1918. Between 1865 and 1955 it was hosted by Saratoga Race Course, in Saratoga Springs, New York with the exception of 1943 through 1945 when wartime restrictions were in place and the race was held at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York.

Run in mid September, the race is open to horses age three and older bred in the State of New York. Currently offering a purse of US$125,000, it is contested on turf at a distance of 1+1⁄8 miles. Prior to 1989, it was run on dirt. Due to weather conditions, the 2001 edition was raced on dirt.
Chad C. Brown is an American Thoroughbred horse racing trainer known for his expertise with turf horses and with fillies and mares. He has trained ten Eclipse Award winners including Stacelita, Big Blue Kitten, Lady Eli, Flintshire, and Horse of the Year Bricks and Mortar. After receiving the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Trainer of 2016, he won his first Triple Crown race with Cloud Computing in the 2017 Preakness Stakes. He also won the Eclipse Award in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
Saratoga Dew is an American Thoroughbred Champion racehorse. Bred by Penny Chenery, owner of Secretariat, and raced by Charles F. Engel, in 1992 Saratoga Dew became the first New York-bred horse to win an Eclipse Award.
Harry Bassett (1868–1878) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse, winner of the 1871 Belmont Stakes and an outstanding racehorse of the 19th century. He also won a number of other stakes races, and was named the Champion male of his age group in 1870, 1871 and 1872. He was retired to stud duties in New Jersey when his five-year racing career ended, having recorded 23 wins from 36 starts. Harry Bassett died in New Jersey in 1878 and was inducted into the United States Racing Hall of Fame in 2010.
Oxbow, an American Thoroughbred racehorse, is best known for winning the second jewel in the United States Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing, the 2013 Preakness Stakes. A bay colt, sired by a winner of the Breeders' Cup Classic and out of a full sister to another Breeders' Cup Classic winner, Oxbow was sold as a yearling at Keeneland for $250,000 and is owned by Brad Kelley of Calumet Farm. He was trained by D. Wayne Lukas and was ridden in his Triple Crown races by Gary Stevens.
