Gavlen Ridge

Gavlen Ridge ( 72°39′S0°27′E / 72.650°S 0.450°E / -72.650; 0.450 Coordinates: 72°39′S0°27′E / 72.650°S 0.450°E / -72.650; 0.450 ) is a ridge forming the southern extremity of the Roots Heights, in the southern part of the Sverdrup Mountains in Queen Maud Land, Antarctica. It was photographed from the air by the Third German Antarctic Expedition, which took place in 1938–39. It was mapped by Norwegian cartographers from surveys and air photos by the Norwegian–British–Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–52) and from air photos by the Norwegian expedition (1958–59) and named Gavlen (the gable). The Sverdrup Mountains are a group of mountains about 80 km (50 mi) long, standing just west of the Gjelsvik Mountains in Queen Maud Land, East Antarctica. With its summit at 2,655 metres (8,711 ft), the massive Mount Krüger forms the highest point in the Sverdrup Mountains.

Brattskarvet Mountain is a mountain, 2,100 metres (6,900 ft) high, next north of Vendeholten Mountain in the Sverdrup Mountains of Queen Maud Land. It was photographed from the air by the Third German Antarctic Expedition (1938–39). It was mapped by Norwegian cartographers from surveys and air photos by the Norwegian–British–Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–52) and from air photos by the Norwegian expedition (1958–59) and named Brattskarvet.

Brekkerista Ridge is a ridge 2 nautical miles (4 km) northeast of the summit of Jutulrora Mountain in the Sverdrup Mountains of Queen Maud Land. It was plotted from air photos by the Third German Antarctic Expedition (1938–39). It was remapped by Norwegian cartographers from surveys and air photos by the Norwegian–British–Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–52) and from air photos by the Norwegian expedition (1958–59) and named "Brekkerista".

Oppkuven Peak is a peak 2 nautical miles (3.7 km) north of Gavlen Ridge in the Roots Heights, Sverdrup Mountains, in Queen Maud Land. Photographed from the air by the German Antarctic Expedition (1938–39). Sverre Peak is a small peak 0.5 nautical miles (0.9 km) off the north end of Pettersen Ridge in the Conrad Mountains of Queen Maud Land. Discovered and photographed by the German Antarctic Expedition, 1938-39. Mapped by Norway from air photos and surveys by the Norwegian Antarctic Expedition, 1956–60, and named for Sverre Pettersen, steward with Norwegian Antarctic Expedition, 1957-58.

Jutulrøra Mountain is a prominent mountain 6 nautical miles (11 km) south of Straumsvola Mountain in the western part of the Sverdrup Mountains, overlooking the east side of Jutulstraumen Glacier in Queen Maud Land, Antarctica. It was photographed from the air by the German Antarctic Expedition (1938–39). It was mapped by Norwegian cartographers from surveys and air photos by the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (NBSAE) (1949–52) and air photos by the Norwegian expedition (1958–59), and was named for Gordon de Q. Robin, third in command and a physicist with the NBSAE.
