Gedee Car Museum or GD Museum, is a private vintage car museum located in the city of Coimbatore, India.

History

The museum was founded by GD Gopal in 2015 as a commemoration of his late father, Gopalswamy Doraiswamy Naidu. [1] During its inauguration, the museum was endowed with a distinctive assortment of automobiles originating from Britain, Germany, Japan, France, Spain, and the United States. [2] This collection encompasses nearly 35 different brands and comprises the private accumulation of G.D. Naidu Charities, [3] which has been amassing these vehicles for over four decades. Also, the museum received eight cars donated by other vintage car enthusiasts. [4]

Collections

As of August 2023, the museum covers an area of 23,500 square feet and accommodates a total of 110 cars. [5]

G. D. Naidu was an Indian inventor and engineer who is referred to as the "Edison of India" and "the wealth creator of Coimbatore". He is credited with the manufacture of the first electric motor in India. His contributions were primarily industrial but also spanned the fields of electrical, mechanical, agricultural and automobile engineering. Naidu developed an independently internal combustion four stroke engine. He had only primary education but excelled as a versatile genius. He is also known as "Miracle Man".
