Geert Cirkel

Geert Cirkel (born 20 October 1978 in Dordrecht) is a rower from the Netherlands. [1] He competed at two Olympic Games. [2]

Cirkel started rowing in 1994. He mainly rows in the fours and occasionally participates in the quadruple sculls. [1] In the quadruple sculls he won a silver medal at the 2001 World Championships in Luzern. In 2003 he quit rowing competitively, but after a two-year stop he returned to the sport in 2005, starting in the fours. [1] In the Luzern World Cup he and his team mates finished in second position and they got the same result and a silver medal at the World Championships in Gifu. [1] In 2006 he got a second place in Luzern and a third place in Munich during World Cups as well as a bronze medal at the World Championships in Eton. [1]

After two silver medals at the Linz and Amsterdam World Cups in 2007 he added a gold in Luzern. At the World Championships that year in Munich he won another bronze medal. [1] With a World Cup win in Poznań and a second place in Luzern in 2008, Cirkel, alongside Jan-Willem Gabriëls, Matthijs Vellenga and Gijs Vermeulen qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in the fours. [1]

Nathan Phillip Cohen is a New Zealand rower. He is a two-time world champion, and won a gold medal in the Olympics. In 2006, rowing a single scull, he won a gold medal at the World University Games. In doing so, he became the first New Zealander to win a gold medal at the World University Games in any sport. Cohen and his rowing partner, Joseph Sullivan, won back-to-back gold medals in the men's double sculls at both the 2010 and 2011 World Rowing Championships. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he and his partner won the gold medal in the men's double sculls, after breaking the Olympic best time in the heats. In 2013, Cohen was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to rowing.

Martino Goretti is an Italian representative lightweight rower, a current (2019) world champion and a dual Olympian. He has represented at senior World Rowing Championships and World Rowing Cups consistently from 2005 to 2019. He is a four time world champion at the senior level who won three titles in Italian lightweight eights from 2005 to 2009 and then in 2019 won the lightweight single scull world title. He had previously won underage world championships as a junior and an U23.
