Gehaktdag was a Dutch television show. It was aired on Fridays on Nederland 3 by the AVRO. In the show, a Dutch celebrity is satirically critiqued by two teams. The show was presented by Ruben Nicolai and the team captains were Tijl Beckand and Horace Cohen. The show first aired on 12 February 2010 and ran until 9 April 2010. In total, nine episodes were broadcast.
The show consists of three rounds, regarding the guest's past, present and future, and in each round, a team member holds a satirical monologue. A point is awarded based on the response of the studio audience using a clap-o-meter. However, the measurements of the clap-o-meter are never shown to the viewers. It is not uncommon for the speaker to make fun of team members or members of the other team, in particular to Horace Cohen.

Have I Got News for You (HIGNFY) is a British television panel show, produced by Hat Trick Productions for the BBC, which premiered on 28 September 1990. The Larry Sanders Show is an American television sitcom set in the office and studio of a fictional late-night talk show. The series was created by Garry Shandling and Dennis Klein and aired from August 15, 1992, to May 31, 1998, on the HBO cable television network.
Never Mind the Buzzcocks is a British comedy panel game show with a pop music theme. It has aired on Sky Max since September 2021, having originally aired between November 1996 and January 2015 on BBC Two. Law & Order: Criminal Intent is an American police procedural drama television series set in New York City, where it was also primarily produced. Created and produced by Dick Wolf and René Balcer, the series premiered on September 30, 2001, as the third series in Wolf's successful Law & Order franchise. Criminal Intent focuses on the investigations of the major case squad in a fictionalized version of the New York City Police Department set in New York City's One Police Plaza. In the style of the original Law & Order, episodes are often "ripped from the headlines" or loosely based on a real crime that received media attention.

Mock the Week is a British topical satirical celebrity panel show, created by Dan Patterson and Mark Leveson. It was produced by Angst Productions for BBC Two, and was broadcast from 5 June 2005 to 4 November 2022. The programme was presented by Dara Ó Briain and featured regular appearances by comedian Hugh Dennis, as well as guest appearances by a variety of stand-up comedians, some of whom had regular appearances in several series.

Sander Lantinga is a Dutch program maker at BNN, and a radio-DJ at radio station 3FM from 2006 till 2015, in August 2015 he is one of the co host of the Coen en Sander Show on Radio 538. Lantinga drew worldwide attention as the streaker during the quarter final tennis match between Maria Sharapova and Elena Dementieva at Wimbledon in July 2006, a challenge he did for the BNN program Try Before You Die.
BNN or Bart's Neverending Network was a Dutch public broadcasting association supported by Netherlands Public Broadcasting. BNN was founded in 1997 by Bart de Graaff, Gerard Timmer and Frank Timmer and targeted teenagers and young adults. It produced entertainment and information television programming, radio programming, and feature films. Some of BNN's programming dealt with controversial subject matter, including most famously, a hoax reality special made to help raise awareness of the shortage of organ donors in the Netherlands.

A clap-o-meter, clapometer or applause meter is a measurement instrument that purports to measure and display the volume of clapping or applause made by an audience. It can be used to indicate the popularity of contestants and decide the result of competitions based on audience popularity. Specific implementations may or may not be based on an actual sound level meters. Clap-o-meters were a popular element in talent shows and television game shows in the 1950s and 1960s, most notably Opportunity Knocks, but have been since been supplanted by other, more sophisticated, methods of measuring audience response.
Dit was het nieuws is a Dutch television panel show, produced by AVROTROS and broadcast on NPO 1, wherein two teams give a satirical account of the previous week's news. The program has the form of a game show in which two teams, each with a team leader and weekly guest, compete against each other. The scoring is not serious; after the first round, for instance, the score is always 4-4.
Ekstra Weekend was a Dutch radio broadcast by the Dutch public broadcaster NTR for 3FM. The show aired on Friday nights between 7 and 10 pm. The show was hosted by Gerard Ekdom and Michiel Veenstra. The name Ekstra Weekend is a contraction of the last names of the two hosts. When one of the two was absent, he was replaced by Domien Verschuuren, nicknamed Iemand Anders, who used to be the producer of the show until Tjitse Leemhuis took his role. On 6 May 2011, the 'voice of 3FM', Eric Corton, substituted for Gerard Ekdom. In the past, other DJs have been known to replace either one of the regular DJs. Rob Stenders, Paul Rabbering and Bart Arens have all been substitute DJs. They all have their own shows on 3FM. Producer Tjitse Leemhuis was also part of the show.
The heute-show is a German late-night satirical television program airing every Friday evening on public broadcasting channel ZDF. A conceptual adaptation of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, it is presented by German comedian and journalist Oliver Welke. Heute show presents the weekly news with funny or sarcastic and cynical comments, especially focusing on issues that are subject of the latest political discussions in Germany. Welke argues that he might help to make people interested in politics and might help to point out "what goes the wrong way" in parliamentary debates, in ministries, in institutions, and in parties. Sometimes, he simply mocks "people who deserve it" in his show.

The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song "Birth of a New Age" written by Jeangu Macrooy and Pieter Perquin. The song was performed by Jeangu Macrooy, who was internally selected to represent the Netherlands at the 2021 contest after he was due to compete in the 2020 contest with "Grow" before the event's cancellation. In addition to its participation, the Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS also hosted the contest in Rotterdam, after winning the competition in 2019 with the song "Arcade" by Duncan Laurence. Macrooy's re-appointment as the Dutch representative was announced on 18 March 2020, while the song, "Birth of a New Age", was presented to the public during a special live broadcast on 4 March 2021.
