Geist is an affluent area in northeastern Indianapolis, Indiana (in Lawrence Township) and southeastern Hamilton County in Fishers, Indiana. It is named for Geist Reservoir.
In January 2007, the town of Fishers proposed annexing Geist. The proposed annexation area included approximately 2,200 homes in an unincorporated area of Hamilton County. In 2008, Geist residents collected 1,700 signatures and filed suit to stop Fishers from annexing their homes into the Fishers tax base. The suit was turned over to Hamilton County Superior Court, and on December 31, 2008, the judge ruled that Fishers could annex 2,200 upscale homes surrounding Geist Reservoir. On January 20, 2009, Geist residents surprisingly announced they wouldn't appeal the judge's decision. For tax reasons, the annexation was not made official until January 2, 2010. [1]
The waterfront amenities offered at Geist have made it a haven for athletes, politicians, socialites, and businessmen. Past and present residents have included Reggie Miller, Paul George, George Hill and Mitch Daniels. Some of whom are more infamous than famous such as Tim Durham and Marcus Schrenker.

Hamilton Southeastern School District is the school district for students living in Fishers, Indiana and portions of neighboring Noblesville, Indiana. The district consists of twelve elementary schools (K-4), four intermediate schools (5-6), four junior high schools (7-8), and two high schools (9-12). Hamilton Southeastern is home to the Hamilton Southeastern Royals and the Fishers Tigers. Hamilton Southeastern is the fastest growing school corporation in Indiana with 17,140 students in the 2008-09 school year increasing from 10,716 in 2002. Hamilton Southeastern is the 4th largest school district in Indiana. Its schools have very high ratings. Fourteen of the twenty-two schools in the district are four star schools as rated by the Indiana Department of Education. Geist Elementary School was named a 2016 Blue Ribbon School by the US Department of Education, an award only given to 329 schools nationally. The district had a 23.1% higher passing rate on the math/English combined ISTEP+ tests when compared to the state average in 2006-07. Currently the school district is in a lawsuit allegedly over not preventing bullying of one of the students that resulted in a suicide.
Geist Reservoir is a reservoir in the northeastern part of metropolitan Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. It was constructed in 1943 by damming Fall Creek to provide water for Indianapolis. Upon completion, Geist Reservoir was the second-largest man-made lake in Indiana, providing approximately 6,900,000,000 US gallons (2.6×1010 l; 5.7×109 imp gal) of water. The reservoir is located primarily in the northeast corner of Indianapolis and the southeast corner of Fishers, but small parts reach into the nearby towns of Lawrence, Fortville, and McCordsville.
Hyde Park Township is a former civil township in Cook County, Illinois, United States that existed as a separate municipality from 1861 until 1889 when it was annexed into the city of Chicago. Its borders are Pershing Road on the north, State Street on the west, Lake Michigan and the Indiana state line on the east, and 138th Street and the Calumet River on the south. It is 57.5 miles (92.5 km) long and has a watershed drainage area of 318 square miles (820 km2) in central Indiana before flowing into the White River in Indianapolis. As it flows southwest, Fall Creek is the namesake of three townships in Indiana, in Henry County, Madison County, and then Hamilton County.

Home Place is a neighborhood within the city of Carmel, Indiana, in the United States. Home Place was previously an unincorporated community of 1,017 acres (412 ha) in Clay Township, Hamilton County, Indiana, that had resisted annexation attempts by Carmel since 2004. However, in June 2016, a special judge ruled that residents of Home Place had failed to meet all the requirements to prevent the annexation, and that Carmel could move forward with the annexation. After that decision was upheld by the Indiana Court of Appeals in October 2017, representatives of the Home Place residents reached an agreement with city leaders. On March 1, 2018, Carmel completed the annexation of the Home Place community.
