Generali Italia S.p.A. or simply Generali is an Italian insurance company based in Mogliano Veneto, which is a subsidiary of Generali Group. Alleanza Assicurazioni, Cattolica Assicurazioni, DAS, Genertel and Genertellife, Generali Welion, Generali Jeniot and Leone Alato [2] are headed by Generali Italia.

History

The company was founded on July 1, 2013 [3] when the Italian branch of Assicurazioni Generali was transferred to INA Assitalia and the name was changed to Generali Italia SpA. The insurance activities of the Toro Group (Toro, Lloyd Italico and Augusta) were then integrated. Sergio Balbinot was the first chairmen and Raffaele Agrusti the CEO; their office lasted until the approval of the 2013 financial statements. On 7 October 2013 Philippe Donnet joined the Generali Group and became Country Manager Italy and CEO of Generali Italia. [4]

In May 2016 Marco Sesana was appointed Chief Executive Officer and General Manager. [5] [6]
In the following three years a new phase started and two new companies were born: Generali Welion, [7] an integrated welfare company, and Generali Jeniot, [8] which deals with IoT services and connected insurance.
In May 2020, IVASS, the supervisory entity for the sector, ordered Cattolica's top management to carry out a capital increase of 500 million by 30 October 2020. [9] On 25 June 2020, Generali and Cattolica announce a strategic partnership which consists in the entry of Generali into Cattolica with a stake of 24.4 percent [10] [11]

In November 2021, Generali held 84.475 percent of Cattolica's share capital. [12] [13]

In September 2022 Giancarlo Fancel, previously group Chief Risk Officer, was appointed Country Manager Italy and Chief Executive Officer. [14]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Generali Building</span>

The Generali Building is a landmark office and commercial building on Jaffa Road in West Jerusalem. Designed by Marcello Piacentini, chief architect of the Italian Fascist regime, it served as the Jerusalem branch of the Assicurazioni Generali insurance company from 1935 to 1946. In 1946 the British Mandatory government nationalized the building and enclosed it and several other structures at the eastern end of Jaffa Road in a fortified security zone. With the end of the Mandatory government in 1948, the building was taken by the Irgun. Since the establishment of the state, the Generali Building has housed the offices of the Jerusalem District Administration and other government agencies, and street-level stores. The building's neoclassical and modern architecture, and large, rooftop sculpture of a Lion of Saint Mark have made it a prominent landmark in downtown Jerusalem.

Alleanza Securitas Esperia, also known as Allsecures, was an Italian insurance company. It was formed in Rome in 1933 by a merger of Alleanza & Unione Mediterranea with Securitas Esperia, a part of the Assicurazioni Generali group. In 1965 it was the thirtieth Italian insurance company by total insurance premiums. It was merged into the Axa group in 1998.

Finsoe S.p.A. is an intermediate holding company for several coop societies of Coop (Italy).
