Geoffrey M. Heal is a British-American economist known for his work on environmental and resource economics. He is the Donald C. Waite III Professor of Social Enterprise at Columbia Business School. [1]
Heal was born in 1944 in Bangor,Wales. He received his bachelor's,master's,and doctorate,all from Churchill College,Cambridge. [2] He taught at Christ's College,Cambridge from 1968 to 1973,before joining the faculty of the University of Sussex from 1973 to 1980 and the University of Essex from 1980 to 1983. He joined the faculty of Columbia Business School in 1983 as a professor economics.
Heal also held visiting professor positions at Yale University,Stanford University,University of Paris XII:Paris-Val-de-Marne,Princeton University,Stockholm University,University of Minnesota,University of Siena,and University of Paris X-Nanterre. [3] He also worked at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis as a research scholar. [4]
From 1972 to 1976,Heal was a managing editor of The Review of Economic Studies . He was elected a Fellow of the Econometric Society in 1977. He was made President of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists in 1982 and was made a life fellow of the association in 2006. [1] He received a best paper of 2013 award from the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists in 2014. [1]
Heal was elected a member of the National Academy of Sciences in 2016. [5] He also received an honorary doctorate from the Universitéde Paris Dauphine in 2008.

William Moore "Terence" Gorman was an Irish economist and academic. He was predominantly a theorist and is most famous for his work on aggregation and separability of goods,and in this context he developed his famous Gorman polar form. Gorman's career saw him teach at University of Birmingham,Oxford,and the London School of Economics. He was honoured with the Presidency of the Econometric Society in 1972. His work was often highly technical and theoretical in nature,which made him incomprehensible to many of his contemporaries,but his keen eye for applications has given his work a lasting influence on modern economics.

Paul Lewis Joskow is an American economist and professor. He became President of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation on January 1,2008. He is also the Elizabeth and James Killian Professor of Economics,Emeritus at MIT. He has served on the MIT faculty since 1972. From 1994 through 1998 he was Head of the MIT Department of Economics. From 1999 through 2007 he was the Director of the MIT Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research. Since rejoining in 2018 from his 1988-2007 term,Professor Joskow is Research Associate on the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).

Harvey Joshua Levin was an American economist. He was university research professor in the Department of Economics at Hofstra University (1989–92),Augustus B. Weller Professor of Economics at Hofstra (1964–89),and founder and director of its Public Policy Workshop (1975–92). He had previously served as professor at Columbia University. He was also a senior research associate at the Center for Policy Research.

She is also co-founder of the direct-air capture company Global Thermostat,and served as its CEO from its founding in 2010 until she stepped down in 2022.
Janet Currie is a Canadian-American economist and the Henry Putnam Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University's School of Public and International Affairs,where she is Co-Director of the Center for Health and Wellbeing. She was the 2024 President of the American Economic Association. She served as the Chair of the Department of Economics at Princeton from 2014–2018. She also served as the first female Chair of the Department of Economics at Columbia University from 2006–2009. Before Columbia,she taught at the University of California,Los Angeles and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Andrea Prat is an Italian economist. He is the Richard Paul Richman Professor of Business and professor of economics at Columbia University. He first studied economics at the University of Turin and then obtained his PhD in 1997 at Stanford University under the supervision of Kenneth Arrow. V. Kerry Smith is an American environmental economist. As of 2024 he is an Emeritus Professor of economics in the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and was previously University Distinguished Professor and the Director of the Center for Environmental and Resource Economic Policy at North Carolina State University. Smith is known for his foundational research in environmental economics,is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research,and was inducted in the National Academy of Sciences in 2004. Chicago Professor John A. List once described Smith as a "Renaissance Man of Economics" in praise of Smith's book The Economics of Environmental Risk. He has published more than 300 academic works that have been cited over 7,000 times,which includes 15 books and over 200 peer-reviewed articles.
