Rugby career
In 2014, Bower moved to Dunedin to play for the Harbour Hawks RFC and then played one game for Otago's National Provincial Championship team that year as an injury replacement. Nicknamed the "Fijian Bulldozer", "Humble Horse" and "The Fijian Prince" by fans, Bower was once an extra in an advertisement for the All Blacks.
Bower did not make an appearance for Otago until 2018 when he was called in as injury cover. He played aseven more games for Otago in 2018.
In 2019, he was named in the Crusaders' pre-season and made his debut in round 4. In November 2019, he was named in the 2020 Crusaders' squad. [1]
In October 2020, the All Blacks' coach, Ian Foster, named Bower as a wider squad member of the All Blacks team to Australia. In 2021, he was again named in the wider squad for the Steinlager Series against Fiji and Tonga. [2] He made his international debut for the All Blacks on 3 July 2021 against Tonga at Auckland. [3]
James Whitinui Joseph is a New Zealand-born Japanese former rugby union player and current rugby union coach. A flanker, Joseph represented Otago at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, from 1992 to 1995, before representing Japan in 1999. Joseph, now head coach of the Japanese national side, has coached since his retirement, coming through the ranks in New Zealand before his first national stint.
Owen Thomas Franks is a New Zealand rugby player who currently plays for Crusaders in the Super Rugby competition. His usual position is tighthead prop.
Samuel Jordan Cane is a New Zealand professional rugby union player who plays as a flanker for Japan Rugby League One club Tokyo Sungoliath and is the former captain of the New Zealand national team.
Jeffery Latu Toomaga-Allen is a rugby union footballer who previously played as a tighthead prop for Samoa, and for Ulster in the United Rugby Championship. He also previously played for Wellington Lions in the ITM Cup and the Hurricanes in Super Rugby. Toomaga-Allen has also played for New Zealand's international rugby team, the All Blacks, three times during his career. Toomaga-Allen is currently signed with the Queensland Reds until the end of 2025.
Charlie Ngatai is a New Zealand professional rugby union player who plays as a centre, although he can also cover other backline positions. Ngatai last played for Leinster Rugby in Ireland, having previously been Captain of the Chiefs, Taranaki Rugby Football Union and of the Māori All Blacks internationally.
Aki Seiuli is a New Zealand born rugby union player of Samoan heritage who currently plays as a prop for Dragons and the Samoan national side. He previously played for Glasgow Warriors; and the New Zealand sides Otago - in domestic Mitre 10 Cup - and the Highlanders - in the international Super Rugby competition.
Scott Kevin Barrett is a New Zealand professional rugby union player who currently plays as a lock for the Crusaders in Super Rugby and Taranaki in the Mitre 10 Cup. Barrett was chosen as the Crusaders' Captain for the 2020 Super Rugby season.
