The word derives from the Greek presbyteros,which means elder or senior,although many in Christian antiquity understood presbyteros to refer to the bishop functioning as overseer. The word presbyter is used many times in the New Testament,referring both to the Jewish leadership and the "tradition of the elders",and to the leaders of the early Christian community.

Sudden heavy rainfall,saturation of the ground from rainwater and the flow of tributaries caused the Grand River to rise dramatically,with the river cresting at 21.85 feet (6.66 m) in Grand Rapids on April 21,2013. The flooding caused thousands of residents in the area to evacuate their homes.
Rosalynn Bliss is an American politician,social worker,and mayor of Grand Rapids,Michigan. The first woman to be elected mayor of Michigan's second-largest city,Bliss took office on January 1,2016.
