George M. Kerns (1871-1941 or 1942) [1] was an architect in Iowa.
He was born in Moline, Illinois. He opened private practice in Ottumwa, Iowa in 1902. [1]

William LaBarthe Steele was an important architect of the Prairie School during the early twentieth century. A graduate of the University of Illinois, Steele worked in the office of renowned architect Louis Sullivan in Chicago, Illinois 1897–1900. He relocated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to gain additional experience with three other architectural firms.

Dahlonega School No. 1 is an historic school building located near Ottumwa, Iowa, United States. It is located in the center of the unincorporated community of Dahlonega. The building was completed in 1921 and served as a school building until 1959. It served as a voting place for the township until 1986. The one-room schoolhouse measures 1,100 square feet (100 m2). The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
Court Hill Historic District is a historic district located in Ottumwa, Iowa, United States. It is a residential area of large homes with a few small homes in between. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998 as a part of Ottumwa MPS. At the time of its nomination it contained 84 resources, which included 56 contributing buildings, two contributing structures, 25 non-contributing buildings, and one non-contributing site.
Frank E. Wetherell (1869-1961) was an architect in the U.S. state of Iowa who worked during 1892–1931. He founded the second oldest architectural firm in the state in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1905. He worked with Roland Harrison in partnership Wetherell & Harrison. The firm designed numerous Masonic buildings.

The J.W. Garner Building is a historic building located in Ottumwa, Iowa, United States. Built in 1911, it is the work of local architect George M. Kerns. The three-story red brick structure with limestone details exhibits a subdued Neoclassical style. The windows on the second floor are grouped into bays divided by brick pilasters with two windows per bay. The third floor windows have no such division and have a limestone belt course for their sills. There is a simple cornice near the top of the facade. The building was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. In 2016 it was included as a contributing property in the Greater Second Street Historic District.
The Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel Company, and often referred to as Pitt-Des Moines Steel or PDM was an American steel fabrication company. It operated from 1892 until approximately 2002 when its assets were sold to other companies, including Chicago Bridge & Iron Company. The company began as a builder of steel water tanks and bridges. It also later fabricated the "forked" columns for the World Trade Center in the 1960s, and was the steel fabricator and erector for the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. A number of its works are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
