German Engineering is the thirteenth extended play by German DJ and electronic music producer Virtual Riot. It was released by American record label Disciple Recordings on 31 January 2018. It contains six songs, including a collaboration with British grime collective Virus Syndicate. It peaked at the number 11 spot on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Album Sales chart.
On 31 January 2018, the extended play was released as a digital download on international digital stores through American record label Disciple, as well as being released through various music streaming services. [1] [2] The SoundCloud version of the extended play also included Virtual Riot's previous song "Shindeiru" and an acapella of the Virus Syndicate collaboration "Show Up". [3]
The extended play debuted in the Billboard Dance/Electronic Album Sales chart at the number 11 spot, marking Virtual Riot's second appearance on the chart after his Chemistry extended play, which peaked at the number 20 position in May 2016. [4]
German Engineering was well received by most critics. Robyn Dexter of Dancing Astronaut described it as a compilation of Virtual Riot "flexing the heavier side of his production style", writing that it would remind listeners about "just how broad his style range truly is." [5] Your EDM's Matthew Meadow noted that the extended play consists mostly of riddim and dubstep songs and praised Virtual Riot's "impeccable sound design and engineering", stating that it was just another "fantastic EP in a long series of releases from Virtual Riot, and we wouldn’t expect anything less." [6] Writing for EDMTunes, Nina Chiang gave it praise, saying that "Virtual Riot is going to launch his diverse range of sound into a new era of bass." [1]

"Language" is a song by American electronic music producer and DJ Porter Robinson. The song was uploaded on YouTube by Porter Robinson on March 30, 2012. The song was released in the United States on Big Beat Records as a digital download on April 10, 2012. The song was later released in the United Kingdom in an EP package from Ministry of Sound on August 12, 2012. It debuted at number nine on the UK Singles Chart. The song features uncredited vocals from Heather Bright. The song received remixes from producers Kayzo together with Gammer, and from Jauz.
Christian Valentin "Val" Brunn, better known by his stage name Virtual Riot, is a German DJ and electronic music producer. He has released seventeen extended plays and one studio album, most notably his 2016 extended play Chemistry, which peaked at 20 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Albums charts and his 2018 extended play German Engineering, which peaked on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart at the No. 11 position. He was signed to the independent music label Disciple Recordings in 2014. On 16 April 2019, he announced a publishing deal with Skrillex's OWSLA.

Isabelle Rezazadeh, known by her stage name Rezz, is a Canadian DJ and record producer from Niagara Falls, Ontario. She released her debut EP, Insurrection in 2015 through OWSLA's sub-label Nest HQ. In 2016, she signed with a record label, and released follow-ups The Silence is Deafening and Something Wrong Here. On August 4, 2017, Rezazadeh released her debut studio album, Mass Manipulation, with its follow up, Certain Kind of Magic, released in 2018.

Riddim is a subgenre of dubstep known for its heavy use of repetitive and minimalist sub-bass and triplet percussion arrangements. It shares the same name as the Jamaican genre that influenced both it and dubstep, which originally derived from dub, reggae, and dancehall. Originating in the United Kingdom, specifically Croydon, in the early 2010s as a resurgence of the style used by early dubstep works, riddim had started to gain mainstream presence in the electronic music scene around 2015.

"Island" peaked at the No. 20 position on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart in early 2019. "Another Me" peaked on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs at the No. 46 position in late 2019.
Jesse Kardon, better known by his alias Subtronics, is an American dubstep DJ and producer from Philadelphia, United States. He is best known for his song "Griztronics", a collaboration with Michigan-based electronic music artist GRiZ that peaked on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs at the No. 9 position in late 2019. Kardon peaked at No. 10 on Billboard's Next Big Sound chart in September 2019.
