Gilbert Fuchs (1871–1952) was a German figure skater who won the first World Figure Skating Championships, held in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1896. He recaptured the world title ten years later in Munich.

The NRW Trophy is an annual international figure skating competition organized by the Skating Union of North Rhine-Westphalia. Since 2007, it has been sanctioned by the Deutsche Eislauf Union and the International Skating Union. It is held every autumn at the Westfalenhallen in Dortmund, Germany. Medals are awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The competition is held in two parts: The Ice Dance Trophy is held in early November, while the Figure Skating Trophy is held for singles and pair skating in late November or early December.
Sepp Schönmetzler is a German figure skater, coach, and journalist. He is the 1962 and 1965 German national champion and placed 12th at the 1964 Winter Olympics. He produces the German figure skating magazine Eissport-Magazin.
Falko Kirsten is a German former figure skater. He is the 1980 World Junior bronze medalist, the 1983 St. Ivel International bronze medalist, and a five-time East German national champion. He competed at six European Championships, finishing twice in the top five; five World Championships; and the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, finishing 16th. He represented the club SC Einheit Dresden.
Reinhard E. Ketterer is a German retired competitive figure skater who competed for West Germany as a single skater and pair skater. As a single skater, he is the 1969 German national champion, and as a pair skater, he is the 1972 German bronze medalist with partner Gabriele Cieplik. He is still a figure skating coach.

Medals may be awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance at the senior and junior levels.

Nolan Seegert is a German retired pair skater. With his skating partner, Minerva Fabienne Hase, he was the 2019 Rostelecom Cup bronze medalist, 2021 CS Nebelhorn Trophy champion, and three-time German national champion. The pair represented Germany at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Eva von Gamm, née Neeb, was a German pair skater and figure skating judge. With her skating partner, Karl Probst, she became a three-time West German national medalist and competed at five ISU Championships in the 1950s.
Wolf-Dieter Montag was a German physician, sports medicine specialist, mountain rescue doctor, and international sports administrator. His medical career spanned 50 years in his native Bavaria, and included being a lecturer, teacher and consultant for orthopedic surgery, and physical therapy. He served as vice-president of the German Sport Medical Association, advised the Landtag of Bavaria on medical matters, and was a mountain rescue doctor and instructor for 30 years. He was the chief physician of the German Ice Skating Union for eight years, then was its president for 16 years. He was a medical advisor to the International Skating Union for 10 years, served as the Chief Medical Officer of the International Ice Hockey Federation for 23 years, and was a member of the medical committee for the International Olympic Committee at all Summer and Winter Olympic Games from 1972 to 2002. He received multiple awards during his career, including the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany first class, the Bavarian Order of Merit, the Olympic Order, induction into the German Ice Hockey Hall of Fame, and the inaugural Paul Loicq Award.

Skaters competed in the disciplines of men's singles and ladies' singles on the senior level and pair skating and ice dance on the senior, junior, and novice levels. Single skating competitions on the junior and novice levels were held on December 13–15, 2019 at the Eissportzentrum Herzogenried in Mannheim. The results of the national championships were among the criteria used to choose the German teams for the 2020 European Championships, 2020 Winter Youth Olympics, 2020 World Championships and 2020 Junior World Championships.

Skaters competed in the disciplines of men's singles and ladies' singles on the senior level and pair skating on the junior level and ice dance on the senior, junior, and novice levels. Single skating competitions on the junior and novice levels were supposed to be held on March 28–29, 2021 in Dortmund, but were cancelled on March 18, 2021.

Skaters competed in the disciplines of men's singles and ladies' singles on the senior level and pair skating and ice dance on the senior, junior, and novice levels. Single skating competitions on the junior and novice levels were held on December 17–19, 2021 at the Eissportzentrum Westfalen in Dortmund. The results of the national championships were among the criteria used to choose the German teams for the 2022 European Championships, 2022 Winter Olympics, 2022 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival, 2022 World Championships and 2022 Junior World Championships.
