German Badminton Association (DBV, German : Deutscher Badminton-Verband) is the national governing body for the sport of badminton in Germany. The association consists of state badminton associations from 16 states of Germany. [3]
The association was founded in 1953 by representatives of 14 West German badminton clubs during the first German National Badminton Championships held in Wiesbaden. [4] It is also the founding members of Badminton Europe in 1967. As West Germany and East Germany reunified, the East German Badminton Federation (Deutscher Federball-Verband/DFV) also merged with DBV in 1991.
The German Football Association is the governing body of football, futsal, and beach soccer in Germany. A founding member of both FIFA and UEFA, the DFB has jurisdiction for the German football league system and is in charge of the men's and women's national teams. The DFB headquarters are in Frankfurt am Main. Sole members of the DFB are the German Football League, organising the professional Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga, along with five regional and 21 state associations, organising the semi-professional and amateur levels. The 21 state associations of the DFB have a combined number of more than 25,000 clubs with more than 6.8 million members, making the DFB the single largest sports federation in the world.
The German Open is an annual badminton tournament held in Germany since 1955 and organized by German Badminton Association or Deutscher Badminton Verband (DBV). The tournaments were not held in the year 1970, 1979 and 1998.
Kendrick Lee Yen Hui is a Singaporean former badminton player. Lee was ranked fourteen, his highest ranking, in 2007. He was a two-time national champion.
The BWF World Junior Championships, also known as the World Junior Badminton Championships, is a tournament organized by the Badminton World Federation to crown the best junior badminton players (U-19) in the world. The championship is held annually and consists of two separate competitions: a mixed team championship followed by an individual championship.
The 2007 BWF Grand Prix Gold and Grand Prix was the inaugural season of BWF Grand Prix Gold and Grand Prix under the new tournament structure introduced by Badminton World Federation (BWF). It was held from February 28 and ended on December 12, 2007. 12 events were planned, but India Open Grand Prix Gold was cancelled following the bomb blast in the city. The organizers decided to postpone the tournament to indefinite date. However, the President of Badminton Association of India said the tournament is likely to take place from January 7 to January 13, 2008. But BWF later confirmed the event was cancelled. Had the tournament been held, it would have been held in Kotla Vijay Bhaskar Reddy Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad from 4–9 September 2007.
The German Olympic Sports Confederation was founded on 20 May 2006 by a merger of the Deutscher Sportbund (DSB), and the Nationales Olympisches Komitee für Deutschland (NOK) which dates back to 1895, the year it was founded and recognized as NOC by the IOC.

Ingo Kindervater is a retired badminton player from Germany and now the Head of Performance for Badminton Scotland.
Isabel Lohau is a German badminton player, specializing in doubles play. She started playing badminton at her hometown Hersbruck in 2001, and in 2010 she joined the Germany national badminton team. She along with national team won the 2011 European Junior Championships and 2012 European Women's Team Championships. In the individual event, Lohau also won the bronze medals at the 2010 World Junior Championships in the mixed doubles, 2011 European Junior Championships in the mixed and girls' doubles, and at the 2018 and 2021 European Championships in the mixed doubles. She represented her country competing at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Yvonne Li is a German badminton player. She won bronze medals at the 2015 and 2017 European Junior Championships in the girls' doubles and singles respectively. Li who affiliate with SC Union 08 Lüdinghausen was the three-time National Champion in the women's singles winning from 2019 to 2021, and she also won the women's doubles in 2020.
Hannes Käsbauer is a German male badminton player. In 2011, he won bronze medal at the German National Badminton Championships in men's doubles event with Peter Käsbauer. In 2012, he became the runner-up of Slovenia International tournament in mixed doubles event with Kira Kattenbeck.
Fabian Holzer is a German badminton player. In 2011, he won the silver medal in the boys' doubles event at the European Junior Championships partnered with Max Schwenger, and in 2016, he won the men's doubles title at the Brazil Open Grand Prix tournament with Michael Fuchs.
Lara Käpplein is a German badminton player. Together with German national team, she won the silver medals in the 2018 and 2020 European Women's Team Championships, and also at the 2019 European Mixed Team Championships.
Linda Efler is a German badminton player who became the member of the national team in 2013. She affiliate with SC Union 08 Lüdinghausen, and won the National Championships women's doubles title in 2019 and 2020, also in the mixed doubles in 2019.
Franziska Volkmann is a German badminton player. She won bronze medals at the 2013 European Junior Championships in the mixed doubles and team events.
Mark Lamsfuß is a German badminton player and plays for the BC Wipperfeld. He and his partner, Isabel Lohau won a bronze medal in mixed doubles at the 2022 BWF World Championships.
Sandra Marinello is a German badminton player. She was born in Duisburg, and started to playing badminton in 1995. Marinello was part of the 1. BC Düren from 2008 to 2014, and previously plays for the SV Thomasstadt Kempen, BV RW Wesel, TV Remscheid, SCU Lüdinghausen, PSV Ludwigshafen, and BV Gifhorn. She won the women's doubles title at the national championships from 2009 to 2012 partnered with Birgit Overzier. Together with the German national women's team, she won the bronze medal at the 2006 Uber Cup in Japan. She also won the women's doubles bronze at the 2012 European Championships with Overzier.
Michael Keck is a German badminton player. Keck clinched nine titles at the National Championships, and won the first time in 1990. He was the bronze medallist at the 1996 European Championships, winning the mixed doubles event at the World Grand Prix tournament in the 1997 Swedish Open. Keck has collected 65 caps for Germany and competed at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics. His brother Markus Keck is also a former German professional badminton player.
Purwati is an Indonesian badminton player specializes in doubles. Born in Pekalongan Regency, Purwati had joined the Djarum club in 2000. Together with Meiliana Jauhari, she won the international tournament in 2005 Malaysia Satellite, 2006 Brazil International, and Surabaya Satellite. She also won the mixed doubles title in Brazil partnered with Afiat Yuris Wirawan. Purwati was a women's doubles champion at the World Badminton Grand Prix tournament in Bulgaria Open with Jauhari.
