The Royal Belgian Badminton Federation (RBBF) is the governing body for Badminton in Belgium. The administrative seat is located in Braine-l'Alleud. The federation was one of the eleven founding members of Badminton Europe in 1967. It oversees both regional organizations in the country: Badminton Vlaanderen and Ligue Francophone Belge de Badminton.
Competition badminton players in Belgium are ranked individually in each discipline according to a number system. This system is organized as follows (starting with lowest): 12 to 1.
Peter Høeg Gade is a Danish former professional badminton player. He currently resides in Holte in Copenhagen. He has two children with the former handball player Camilla Høeg.
Yao Jie is a Chinese-born badminton player who now resides in the Netherlands.
The U.S. Open Badminton Championships is an annual badminton tournament first held in 1954 when the American Badminton Association opened the U.S. National Badminton Championships to foreign competition. During the 1950s and 1960s it often attracted the world's top players. The 2015 Yonex Suffolk County Community College US Open Championships, held in Brentwood, NY, attracted Malaysia's superstar Lee Chong Wei as well as 9 others in the top 30 MS competitors. In 2016, the tournament was hosted in El Monte, California. In 2017, the tournament was hosted in Anaheim, California. In 2018, the tournament will be held at California State University, Fullerton.
The Estonian International in badminton is an international open held in Estonia since 2004 and is thereby one of the most recent international badminton tournaments in the world.
Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus is a Danish badminton player. He was a member of the winning Denmark team at the 2016 Thomas Cup in Kunshan, China.
Wouter Claes is a left-handed Belgian badminton player. He won 20 Belgian titles, 10 in the men's doubles with Frédéric Mawet and Ruud Kuijten, 10 in the mixed doubles with Manon Albinus, Corina Herrle and Nathalie Descamps. He won 20 Flemish Championships in singles, men's doubles with Nico Claes and Steven Delsaert and mixed doubles with Nathalie Descamps and Janne Elst. He won a bronze medal in the mixed doubles during the 2010 European Badminton Championships. This was the first Belgian medal ever won at a European Championship. During his career, he was placed 21 in world ranking.
Carolina María Marín Martín is a Spanish badminton player. She is an Olympic Champion, three-time World Champion, seven-time European Champion, and the former World's No. 1 in BWF rankings for the women's singles discipline, holding the World No. 1 title for 66 weeks. She has become the World Champion in the women's singles three times, winning in 2014, 2015, and 2018, thereby becoming the first-ever female badminton athlete to have achieved this feat. She has also consecutively won the European Championships title six times, in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2022. She won the Olympics gold medal in women's singles at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Christopher Thomas Adcock is a retired English badminton player. Adcock is currently sponsored by Yonex and YC Sports and plays for the University of Nottingham-based NBL team. He entered the National team in 2006, and later won the boys' doubles and mixed team titles at the 2007 European Junior Championships. He was a World Championships medalists winning a silver in 2011 with Imogen Bankier and a bronze in 2017 with Gabby Adcock. Together with Gabby, he also won a silver medal at the 2007 World Junior Championships, and then claimed the gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and 2018; and at the European Championships in 2017 and 2018.
Vladimir Alexandrovich Ivanov is a Russian badminton player. He was the champion at the 2014 and 2021 European Championships, and also the 2016 All England Open partnering with Ivan Sozonov. They made history by becoming the first Russian pair to win the men's doubles title in each of those events. Ivanov competed at the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Summer Olympics.
Kristína Gavnholt is a Czech badminton player. She competed for Czech Republic at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics.
Ivan Andreyevich Sozonov is a Russian badminton player. He competed for Russia at the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Summer Olympics. His current partner is Vladimir Ivanov. The duo's victories at the 2014 European Championships and 2016 All England Open rendered them as the first Russians to win the men's doubles in each of those tournaments.
Gabrielle Marie Adcock is an English retired badminton player.
Firman Abdul Kholik is an Indonesian badminton player who is a singles specialist. He is better known when helping Indonesia win the 2018 Asia Team Championships. Kholik also took part as Indonesia winning team in 2015, 2017, and 2019 SEA Games.
Frederik Colberg is a Danish badminton player from Holbæk. He won his first international title at the 2010 Iceland International tournament in the mixed doubles event partnered with Mette Poulsen. Colberg was part of the Danish junior team that won a bronze medal at the 2011 European Junior Championships. Teamed-up with Rasmus Fladberg, they managed to claim the men's doubles title at the 2017 National Championships, and some international titles in the 2016 Yonex / K&D Graphics, 2017 Belgian, and Hungarian International tournaments; and also won the 2018 Spanish International partnered with Joachim Fischer Nielsen.
Yeo Jia Min is a Singaporean badminton player. She is a former World Junior No.1 and the first Singaporean in either the junior or senior categories to made it to the top of the BWF's ranking system.
Yukiko Takahata is a Japanese badminton player from the Yonex team. In 2017, she became the women's doubles runner-up at the Osaka International tournament partnered with Ayako Sakuramoto. She won her first senior international title at the Spanish International tournament with Sakuramoto.
Kong Hee-yong is a South Korean badminton player. In 2013, she won the mixed team gold at the BWF World Junior Championships. In 2014, Kong who was educated at the Daesung girls' high school competed at the Asian Junior Championships and won the silver medals in the mixed team and doubles event. She also play for the Jeonbuk Bank at the national event, and at the 2017 Japan Open, she became the runner-up in the women's doubles event partnered with Kim Ha-na. Together with Kim So-yeong, she was awarded as the 2019 BWF Most Improved Player of the Year.
Koki Watanabe is a Japanese badminton player. He graduated from the Saitama Sakae High School, and was part of the Unisys team since 2017. He won his first international title at the 2018 Yonex / K&D Graphics International tournament.
The Belgium national badminton team represents Belgium in international badminton team competitions and is controlled by the Royal Belgian Badminton Federation. The Belgium national team have never qualified for the Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup. The last time Belgium competed in the Sudirman Cup was in 2007.
The Bangladesh International is an international badminton tournament held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and organized by the Bangladesh Badminton Federation. The tournament was established in June 2002 and was part of the Asian Satellite. In 2011, the tournament was graded as the BWF International Series with the total prize money equaling US$5,000, and later in 2013, it was upgraded to the International Challenge, providing a total prize money of US$15,000. In 2019, the tournament will be dedicated to Bangladesh's "Father of the Nation," Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
