The Badminton Federation of Tajikistan (BFT) is the highest national administrative organization in the sport of badminton in Tajikistan.

Badminton racquet sport

Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" and "doubles". Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court.

History

The Badminton Federation of Tajikistan was founded on 10 December 2010 [1] and subsequently became a member of the Badminton World Federation. The Federation is also a member of the continental umbrella organization Badminton Asia. [2] The association is based in Dushanbe. The association is registered with the Ministry of Justice of the country and is a member of the National Olympic Committee.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is the international governing body for the sport of badminton recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Founded in 1934 as the International Badminton Federation (IBF) with nine member nations, the BWF has since expanded to 176 member nations around the world. On 24 September 2006, at the Extraordinary General Meeting in Madrid, it was decided to adopt the new name Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Badminton Asia badminton association

The Badminton Asia is the governing body of badminton in Asia. It is one of the 5 continental bodies under the flag of the Badminton World Federation (BWF). The confederation was established in 1959, headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. It aims to maintain Asia as the benchmark for world badminton in many years to come. It now has 43 member federations. It had decided in the Annual General Meeting on July 16, 2006 that the confederation name was changed from Asian Badminton Confederation (ABC) to Badminton Asia Confederation (BAC).

Dushanbe Place in Tajikistan

Dushanbe is the capital and largest city of Tajikistan. It was named this way because it grew from a village that originally had a popular market on Mondays. As of 2016, Dushanbe had a population of 802,700.

Temurmalik District

Temurmalik District or Nohiya-i Temurmalik is a district in the Khatlon province of Tajikistan, located south of the Vakhsh Range along the middle course of Kyzylsu River. It had an estimated population of 57,700 as of 2008. Before 1957, it was called Qizil-Mazor District or Kzyl-Mazar District, then renamed Sovetskiy District, and in 2004 given its present name Temurmalik District. The new name honors a medieval military hero, Timur Malik, who in 1220 led the people of Khujand in their struggle against the Mongol occupation.

The population of Afghans in Tajikistan consists largely of refugees from the various wars which have plagued Afghanistan. They form the vast majority of all refugees in Tajikistan; the other refugees in the country include a few Uyghurs and Iraqis.

The 2011 Tajik League was the 20th season of Tajik League, the Tajikistan Football Federation's top division of association football. Istiklol retained the Championship they won the previous season.

The 2019 Tajik Cup is the 28th edition of the Tajik Cup, the knockout football tournament of Tajikistan. The cup winner qualifies for the 2020 AFC Cup.
