The 1975 Southeast Asian Peninsular Games, officially known as the 8th Southeast Asian Peninsular Games was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held in Bangkok, Thailand from 9 to 16 December 1975. This was the third time Thailand hosted the games, and its first time since 1967. Previously, Thailand also hosted the 1959 inaugural games. South Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, which only sent token squads made up of military personnel to previous games, declined to participate due to internal political problems. The games is the last games to bear the Southeast Asian Peninsular Games name, before it was renamed the Southeast Asian Games in the next edition of the games. The games was opened and closed by Bhumibol Adulyadej, the King of Thailand at the Suphalachasai Stadium. The final medal tally was led by Thailand, followed by host Singapore, Burma and Malaysia.

Bobby Ertanto is a retired badminton player from Indonesia who specialized in doubles. Paired with a variety of fellow countrymen, he shared the Malaysia Open title in 1983, the Thailand Open title in 1985, the Badminton World Cup title in 1986, and the Asian Championships in 1987. He won mixed doubles at the 1986 Malaysia Open with Verawaty Wiharjo. Ertanto earned a bronze medal with Christian Hadinata at the 1983 IBF World Championships in Copenhagen. As a member of Indonesia's 1986 Thomas Cup team, Ertanto and partner Liem Swie King dropped the decisive final match in a narrow loss to Malaysia.

She also the runner-up at the Orleans International in the women's doubles event and Swiss International in the mixed doubles event. In 2017, she became the runner-up at the Estonian International partnered with Léa Palermo. She competed at the 2018 Mediterranean Games, clinched the women's doubles gold with Palermo.
The Mauritius International is an annual feature international badminton tournament held in Mauritius organized by Mauritius Badminton Association (MBA) and sanctioned by BWF. The tournament for most part and in recent years has been an International Series rated event, but in 2012 and 2013, rated as Future Series event. In 2015, he submitted his resignation letters to the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), and started to play as an independent player.
