Giant is an upcoming biographical sports drama film of boxer Prince Naseem Hamed. It is written and directed by Rowan Athale and stars Amir El-Masry and Pierce Brosnan.

Development

The film is written and directed by Rowan Athale. AGC Studios were in development on the project in 2020. [1] It was moving forward in January 2023, with Paddy Considine and Mena Massoud set to star. [2]

Sylvester Stallone and Braden Aftergood are among the executive producers through Balboa Productions. It is produced by Mark Lane of Tea Shop Productions and Kevin Sampson of White Star Productions. AGC Studios and BondIt Media Capital are financing the film. AGC chairman and CEO Stuart Ford will also produce. [3]

Amir El-Masry and Pierce Brosnan are cast as Prince Naseem and his coach Brendan Ingle. [4]

In April 2024, Katherine Dow Blyton, Austin Haynes, and Arian Nik joined the cast. [5]

Filming

Principal photography began in Leeds in April 2024. [6] [7] First look images from the set were reported in April 2024, showing Brosnan in character. [8]

He held multiple featherweight world championships between 1995 and 2000, and reigned as lineal champion from 1998 to 2001. He also held the International Boxing Organization (IBO) featherweight title from 2002 to 2003, and the European bantamweight title from 1994 to 1995. In 2015, he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. The Ring magazine retroactively awarded Hamed their featherweight title in 2019 to acknowledge his dominance of the division and the multiple champions he defeated; he is the only former world champion in any division thus far to receive this honour.
