The school serves students in ninth through twelfth grade. [1] During the 2018–2019 school year, Gibson County High School had a total enrollment of 477 students and a student–teacher ratio of 13.87. [1]
In 1980, computer terminals and a computer for assisted instruction called STRIDE were installed at the school. Students used STRIDE to learn math, reading, and language arts. STRIDE could store information about the problems the students completed, automatically give new assignments, offer students encouragement, and give teacher information about what students are having issues with. This was done as part of a Title 1 program. [3]
In 2010, the school's girls' basketball team won the TSSAA Class AA Girls Basketball State Tournament held at Middle Tennessee State University. The team was honored and congratulated with a joint resolution in the Tennessee General Assembly. [4]
In 2011, a female teacher at the school was indicted on statutory rape. They were accused of sleeping with a teenage male student. [5]
In 2011, solar panels were installed at the school by the Tennessee Valley Authority. The site can generate 24,000 kilowatt hours annually. [6]

Pamela Joan Rogers is an American former elementary school physical education teacher and coach who taught in McMinnville, Tennessee. After getting released in 2012, she was taken into custody in 2015 for allegedly conspiring to smuggle contraband cell phones into a state prison and sentenced to 8 years in prison; her case brought headlines and national attention to the practice of cellphone smuggling in prison.
Interstate 155 (I-155) is an east–west auxiliary route of Interstate 55 (I-55) that runs through the Bootheel of Missouri and the northwestern corner of Tennessee. It begins south of Hayti, Missouri at I-55, passes eastward through Caruthersville, and crosses the Mississippi River on the Caruthersville Bridge into Tennessee. The route then proceeds to Dyersburg, Tennessee, where it terminates at U.S. Route 51 (US 51). I-155 is the only road that directly connects Missouri and Tennessee, and is concurrent with US 412 for its entire length.
