The Gigabit Infrastructure Act (GIA) is an EU regulation on the rollout of gigabit per second broadband.
The act was based on the Digital Economy Act 2017 . [1]
The legislation replaced the Broadband Directive. [2]
The legislation rest.ricts the price which farmers can charge to telecoms companies. [1]
The act includes a mechanism for conciliation between the public sector and operators to improve planning permission procedures. [3]
An implementation period of 18 months was included in the legislation. [4]
The proposed Digital Networks Act did not include any equivalent land access provisions. [5]
