The National Democratic Alliance is a right-wing Indian political group led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It was founded on 15 May 1998 and currently controls the government of India as well as the government of 19 Indian states and one Union territory.
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is an Indian regional political party with great influence in the state of Tamil Nadu and the union territory of Puducherry. It is a Dravidian party founded by the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu M. G. Ramachandran (M.G.R.) at Madurai on 17 October 1972 as a breakaway faction from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam after M. Karunanidhi expelled him from the party for demanding an account as the party treasurer. The party is adhering to the policies of socialism and secularism based on the principles of C. N. Annadurai (Anna) collectively coined as Annaism by M.G.R. The party has won a seven-time majority in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and has emerged as the most successful political outfit in the state's history. It is currently the main opposition party in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
Maruthur Gopalan Ramachandran,popularly known by his initials M.G.R.,was an Indian actor,film producer,film director,politician and philanthropist who served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from 1977 until his death in 1987. He was the founder and first general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. On 19 March 1988,Ramachandran was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna,India's highest civilian honour. Ramachandran is regarded as one of the most influential politicians of post-independence India. Apart from politics,as a film personality he won the National Film Award,two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and two Filmfare Award South.
Aarani,officially spelled as Arni,and also known as Periya Aarani,is a major commercial,industrial and cultural hub and also a divisional headquarter in the Thiruvanamalai district of Tamil Nadu,India. K C Palanisamy is an Indian politician,former Member of Parliament (MP) and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Tamil Nadu (TN). A former member of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK),he served the Dravidian party founded by former Chief Minister (CM) of Tamil Nadu,M G Ramachandran (MGR) on 17 October 1972. He was born and raised in Chennimalai,Erode District of Tamil Nadu. At the age of 9,K C Palanisamy met MGR and got influenced by the mission and vision of AIADMK. His political career began aged 13. In 1972,he joined AIADMK as a party member. K C Palanisamy was handpicked by former CM of Tamil Nadu,MGR as Deputy District Secretary of AIADMK’s Youth Wing in 1982,at the age of 23. In 1984,he was elected as the party’s youngest Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kangeyam constituency in Thiruppur District. In 1989,K C Palanisamy chosen to contest in Assembly election as Member of Parliament (MP) by Jayalalitha and won with the second highest vote difference Nationally and highest difference in the State.

Subburaman Thirunavukkarasar is an Indian politician. He was the State President of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee till 2 February 2019 and former secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) of the Indian National Congress (INC) party. His introduction to politics in 1977 was facilitated by former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,M. G. Ramachandran. Ramachandran founded the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in 1972 and was facing his first elections for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election in 1977. He identified Thirunavukkarasar,a lawyer by profession,to contest the Aranthangi assembly constituency. Thirunavukkarasar won the seat,aged 27,and was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He continued in that capacity till 1980. Subsequently,he served as Tamil Nadu state minister from 1980 to 1987 in the MGR cabinet,holding portfolios that included Industries,Housing Board,Excise and Handlooms. Later,he became a member of the Lok Sabha –the lower house of the Parliament of India –when he won the erstwhile Pudukottai Lok Sabha constituency. He served as Union Minister of state for shipping and later for telecommunications and information technology.
Munisamy Thambidurai is an Indian politician who served as the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha and leader of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in the Lok Sabha,the lower house of the Indian Parliament. He had served as the Cabinet Minister of Law,Justice and Company Affairs and as the Minister of State of Surface Transport from March 1998 to April 1999. He had also served as the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 1985 to 1989.
The tenth legislative assembly election of Tamil Nadu was held on 15 June 1991. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) –Indian National Congress (INC) alliance won the elections in a landslide manner and AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa became the chief minister. This was her first term in office. The united strength of AIADMK after the merger of J.Jayalalithaa,V.N Janaki Ramachandran and R.M Veerappan faction,who was made Joint General Secretary of AIADMK,the alliance with the Congress,and the wave of public sympathy in the wake of Rajiv Gandhi assassination combined to produce a massive victory for the AIADMK. The DMK could only win 2 seats. This was the worst performance of the DMK since it entered electoral politics in the 1957.
C. Aranganayagam was an Indian politician. He was elected a member of Tamil Nadu Legislative assembly four times,twice from the Thondamuthur constituency and twice from the Coimbatore West constituency as an Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate. He also served as a Minister of Education in the sixth assembly. Later he joined DMK and quit in 2014 before the Lok Sabha election. He also served as an education minister in the Jayalalitha cabinet for the 1991–96 period. He was one of the supporters of Jayalalitha after MGR's death in 1987.
A. C. Shanmugam is the founder and president of the Puthiya Needhi Katchi,a caste-based political party for the Agamudayar caste in Tamil Nadu,India. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Vellore constituency as an AIADMK candidate in the 1984 election.
Edappadi Karuppa Palaniswami,often referred to by his initials E.P.S.,is an Indian politician who is the current leader of opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He served as the 7th chief minister of Tamil Nadu,from 2017 to 2021. He has been the General Secretary of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) since 28 March 2023. Previously,Palaniswami has served as the interim general secretary (2022–23),joint co-ordinator (2017–22) and headquarters secretary (2016–22) of AIADMK.
Dindigul C. Sreenivasan is an Indian politician and former four term Member of Parliament of India elected from Tamil Nadu. He is currently serving as Member of Legislative Assembly for Dindigul since 2016. He is the treasurer of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) since 11 July 2022. He is one of senior most members of the party AIADMK. He served as Minister for Forests for Tamil Nadu from 2016 to 2021.
Members of the 16th Lok Sabha were elected during the 2014 Indian general election. The elections were conducted in 9 phases from 7 April 2014 to 12 May 2014 by the Election Commission of India. The results of the election were declared on 16 May 2014.
The 2014 Indian general elections for Tamil Nadu's 39 seats in the 16th Lok Sabha were held on 24 April 2014. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam led by its general secretary J. Jayalalithaa won a spectacular victory,taking 37 of the 39 seats. The total electors in the state of Tamil Nadu for the election was 55,114,867 and 73.74% of voters exercised their right to do so. The results of the elections were declared on 16 May 2014.
B. Senguttuvan was an Indian politician and Member of Parliament elected from Tamil Nadu. He was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha from Vellore constituency as an Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK) candidate in 2014 election,defeating A. C. Shanmugam by a margin of 59,393 votes,to become the second ADMK candidate to win from the Vellore constituency after a gap of 30 years. He was an advocate,who enrolled himself as a lawyer in 1983. He served as Vellore district's Government Pleader from 2001 to 2006 and as the Public Prosecutor from 2011 to 2014,until he resigned the post to contest the 2014 general election. Both these periods were those of ADMK's regime in Tamil Nadu.
