Gingerrr is a 2025 Nigerian Action Comedy written by Xavier Ighorodje that blends suspense, comedy, and mystery into a single cinematic experience. The production also boasts of an impressive list of executive producers, including Ope Ajayi, Oluwabukunmi Adeaga-Ilori (popularly known as KieKie), Bisola Aiyeola, Wumi Toriola, Bolaji Ogunmola and Creative catalyst, Co- produced by Onyeka Nnama under the umbrella of COTS Production, under the artistic guidance of director Yemi Morafa and distributed by Cinemax [1] .
The movie is the story of four friends with a common goal and fate, who embark on a bold heist to transform their lives. They were desperate to escape their past, and banded together to complete the dangerous task. However, as the plot comes to fruition, their partnership is threatened by secret objectives and personal secrets, placing suspense at the core of the narrative. When a high-stakes heist becomes their only hope of escape from the life they know to the life they want, four women with nothing to lose, brought together by fate, must take a stand! Bound by a shared vendetta, they join forces to pull off a daring heist, but their alliance is tested when each one reveals a hidden agenda to betray the others.
What starts off as a collaborative strategy slowly breaks apart when the plan is put into action. Betrayal, personal grudges, and hidden motives begin to emerge. In the meantime, stress, criminal activity, underground trade, and pressure from outside sources permeate their surroundings.
In addition to the actual heist, internal issues put the women's partnership to the test: long-buried truths begin to surface; character connections become more nuanced than they initially seemed; and the issue of loyalty takes center stage.
The real motivations of the players are exposed. Each character is forced to consider the price of their desire, the price of survival, and whether their unity can withstand pressure beyond the heist's conclusion or not.
The movie was premiered on the 21st September 2025 in Lagos,IMAX cinema Lekki, and it officially started showing in Cinemas nationwide 26 September 2025, with a strong box office opening weekend figure of N82 Million [4] . Within 5 weeks of its theatrical run, it amassed a remarkable N378 Million at the box office, securing the No.10 spot on the list of highest grossing Nigerian films of all time [5] . The Movie will also be premiered in London on the 1st of November 2025. [6]
