Girlband was an Australian pop band that was formed in 2006. [1] It was put together by Sony BMG together with Peppermintblue Management and Mark Byrne from Rogue Traders. [2] There were four members: Renee Armstrong, Renee Bargh, Jess Smith and Patrice Tipoki. [3]

Biography

The girls released their first single Party Girl in 2006. [4] Their second single, Electric, was released in 2007. [5]

In February 2007, the group traveled to Mumbai, India to film a promotional song for Sajid Nadiadwala's superhit Bollywood film 'Heyy Babyy' starring superstar Akshay Kumar. [6]

Later that year, the group supported a national tour for The Rogue Traders before disbanding in April 2007. [7]

Jess Smith

Graduated from Brent Street School of Performing Arts and has appeared in Blue Water High (2005), Home and Away (2008) and Reef Doctors (2013), [8] as well as appearing in a range of stage productions that include Caroline O'Connor - All That Jazz. [3]

Renee Bargh

Australian born in 1986. After attending High School in Mullumbimby moved to Sydney to attend the Brent Street School of Performing Arts. Prior to Girlband she had appeared in theatre productions including Hats Off 2005 and Wimbledon Charity Ball 2004. [3] After Girlband disbanded she acted in National Bingo Night (2007) and Next Wave (2009) [9] In 2010 she moved to Los Angeles to take on the continuing role of co-host and correspondent on Weekend Extra. [10]

Renee Armstrong

Graduated from Australian College of Music [2] and Brent Street School of Performing Arts and appeared in Bootmen (both film and stage productions [11] ), Home and Away and Always Greener. [3] In 2011 she played Amber in the stage production of Hairspray in both Melbourne and Sydney. [12] In 2014 she appeared in a short comedy film Clean and Jerk. [13] She became a personal trainer. bikini coach, IFBB Competitor and in 2013 was NSW champion in IFBB Bikini open division. [14]

Patrice Tipoki

Patrice Tipoki was born in New Zealand and grew up in Australia. [15] She graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and has toured with a number of musical theatre productions, including We Will Rock You and Disney's The Lion King (as the lead character of Nala). [3] She has also appeared in Anyone Can Whistle (Fay Apple), Songs for a New World , West Side Story (Maria) and Prodigal (Maddy). [16] In 2010, she joined the cast of the Sydney production of Wicked, alternating the lead role of Elphaba with Jemma Rix. She had been the understudy for the role in Melbourne and had taken time out to have a baby. [17] In 2014, she played the role of Fantine in the Australian production of Les Miserables. Patrice went on to Play the Role of Fantine on the West End in London. [16] In 2015 she also released her first album, Patrice Tipoki - A Musical Heart. [1] In 2018, she was featured in a broadcast performance of Music & the Spoken Word with The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. [18]

Nicole Marie Webster is an Australian pop singer. She is best known for her role in performing at the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics opening ceremony and her song "Strawberry Kisses", which made number 21 on the list of Top 25 singles in Australia released in 2001.

Ruthie Henshall English entertainer

Valentine Ruth Henshall, known professionally as Ruthie Henshall, is an English actress, singer and dancer, known for her work in musical theatre. She began her professional stage career in 1986, before making her West End debut in Cats in 1987. A five-time Olivier Award nominee, she won the 1995 Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Amalia Balash in the London revival of She Loves Me (1994).

Rachelle Ann Villalobos Go-Spies is a Filipina singer and international musical theater actress. She began her career by participating in and winning several singing competitions, the first of which was in the long-running Philippine variety show Eat Bulaga! at age eleven. The Teen Queens were an Australian pop music girl group, formed in 1992 by three model-singer-actresses: Roxanne Clarke, Kellie Crawford and Liza Witt. In 1992 and 1993, they scored four hit singles on the ARIA Charts with cover versions of "Be My Baby", "I Can't Help Myself", "Love How You Love Me" and "Baby It's You". The group's debut album, Get Happy!, was released in November 1992, which peaked at No. 36. The group disbanded in 1993. Their singles "I Can't Help Myself" and "Love How You Love Me" were nominated for Engineer of the Year at the 1993 ARIA Awards. Caroline OConnor (actress) Australian actress and singer (born 1962)

Caroline Ann O'Connor is a Helpmann Award-winning, Olivier Award-nominated Anglo-Australian singer, dancer and actress. For her theatre work she has won three Helpmann Awards: Best Female Actor in a Play for Edith Piaf in Piaf in 2001 and the same category for Judy Garland in End of the Rainbow in 2006, and Best Female Actor in a Musical for Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes in 2015.

Pippa Jody Grandison is an Australian actress and singer. She currently lives in Sydney, with her husband Steve Le Marquand and son.

Jemma Rix is an Australian theatre performer, who has played the role of Elphaba in the Melbourne, Sydney, Australian and Asian touring companies of Wicked. Rix first performed the role in the shortened 30-minute version of the show at Universal Studios Japan. She was an original cast member of the Australian premiere production as the standby for Elphaba.

Renee Bargh Australian entertainment reporter

Renee Bargh is an Australian entertainment reporter, who is best known as a host of Channel [V] Australia. She is currently the weekend co-host and correspondent for Extra in the U.S. On 23 January 2020, Bargh became the co-host of The Voice Australia, alongside Darren McMullen for the series 9 season.

Gemma Pranita Australian actress

Gemma Pranita is a Thai-born Australian actress. Pranita was encouraged to join the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) by her drama teacher, and from 1999 to 2003, she competed at state level in the Shakespeare Globe Association's annual Shakespeare festival. Pranita formed a theatre company called Cry Havoc! with her best friend in 2006. After graduating from WAAPA, Pranita joined the Bell Shakespeare theatre company. She departed the serial in August 2012 and reprised the role of Jade on 1 March 2019

Fantine is a Russian-born Australian multilingual singer/songwriter of Russian and Dominican descent. Fantine is currently residing in Miami, Florida. She made her musical debut on the Australian indie music scene in 2010 as a featured artist in a collaboration with Space Invadas resulting in the soulful, jazz-inspired single, Super Sweet.
